Guest guest
I have BCBS HMO and I had assymetry. My insurance covered all of it but a small co-pay ($100). Ask your surgeon about what coverage he accepts. Hi! I am new and have a question. Hi! I am considering orthognathic surgery because my right jaw grew longer than my left, creating assymetry. There is no dysfunction physiologically. I don't have dental insurance, and I don't think Blue Shield HMO will cover the surgery. I understand that the surgery is really expensive. Any advice on switching insurance company to get coverage, or payment plan?

Guest guest
My BC/BS medical did cover it, as repair of a congenital, skeletal abnormality. Ask your surgeon, or your surgeon's insurance specialist. Just because you do not have dysfunction now, that does not tell you that you may not have profound troubles later on, nor that you cannot head some of them off by fixing the imbalance now. Not to mention maintaining the orthodontic changes. Ask your docs about all of this. Best, Cammie > Hi!
