Guest guest
Hi everyone! My 14 year old daughter is scheduled for lower advancement only sometime this summer. We're trying to figure out when to schedule this in between all her activities. No sports, just cheerleading practice and honor band practice ( she plays the sax). Any advice on how long to expect for recovery? She had her wisdom teeth out last year (bone impacted), done on a Friday, back to school on Monday and was unable to practice band for about a week, then was OK. Should we expect this to be worse, better, same as last year? Any advice would be appreciated, especially from thos who have been through lower! Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, I had lower jaw advancement about 4 weeks ago. I'm a 36 year old male and I started feeling quite good around 3 weeks post-op. I lost 10lbs in the first week post-op because i couldn't adjust to the soft diet.. please make sure your daughter is comfortable on soft foods BEFORE the surgery.... it may help her adjust eaily after surgery... Kids are supposed to recover a lot quicker than adults.. so revcovery time may vary. I'm quite surprised that your doctor would allow your daughter to go to cheerleading practice.. just make sure she doesn't fall. if the jaw is hurt during the recovery time,it would be very bad news... why take the chance? I also had wisdom teeth pulled and it was a lot easier; however,i was in more pain with the wisdom teeth extraction... i had no pain from the lower jaw advancement.. good luck! > Hi everyone! > > My 14 year old daughter is scheduled for lower advancement only > sometime this summer. Guest guest
HI! Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that you're doing so well! I don't think 's cheer practice will involve any stunts or situations where she could fall or get hit. In any case, we will definitely avoid any situations where she could hurt her jaw. Good to hear that the jaw advancement was less painful than the wisdom teeth. I hate the thought of her having to go through more pain, but we do feel this procedure needs to be done. Thanks again for your advice! ote: > Hi, > > I had lower jaw advancement about 4 weeks ago.
