Guest guest
Sherry, The significance of no collagen in his blood work tells the doctors that he do not have a secondary rheumatic disease. This also helps to confirm the dx of RP. At the present time there are no tests that can confirm the dx of RP. However his doctor should be commended on running further tests to verify and rule out that he does not have one of the many diseases that share some of the classic RP trademarks. Such as inflamed ear, saddle nose deformity and visually problems. Wegner's gran. is one of the diseases that normally would come back with a positive collagen report. This disease is very much like RP except it also attacks the lungs. RP normally dose not. Hope this helps. R. The Support Report http://groups.yahoogroups.com/groups/TheSupportReport Subject: Collagen QuestionMy husband saw his doc last week and the doc said his blood tests were good (18 vials of them), everything showed that he was very healthy except that he had rp and then he mentioned that one of the tests indicated that he had no collagen. Anyone know what the significance of that is? I didn't think to ask.
