Bill et al,

Thanks again to something I read from you ages ago, I latched on to Colace (generic DOS).

After much trial and error I have come upon the system that seems to work for me at this time. That is not to say things won't change any moment!!! Please pardon me while I get personal........believe me, I would never have dreamed I would be discussing my bowel habits to a mixed audience, but I have lost all such inhibitions by now!!! I have a BM every 5-7 days.........and that is with lots of coaxing from DOS and suppositories. I take a DOS every morning and night substituting a peri-DOS once a day at about the 3-4th day. When I begin to feel my "vault is full" and things don't come naturally, i use a suppository. This usually brings results fairly soon. Then I will have a week's worth of elimination over the next 2 days. My life revolves around this sked. I plan my activities around my "off" days.

I still eat lots of veggies and cereals and have cut 'way down on meats, especially beef which I love!!! My overall appetite has diminished over time but for me that's OK as I love to eat and have a tendency to pile it on. NO chance of me starving!!! I do take a multi-vit every day also.

The laxative recipes going around now are interesting to read but are not for me. I copied one or two them for my recipe notebook more to round out my repertoire of recipes than anything else. I figure they will make interesting reading someday and may even help someone in future. But I know my system and know that these concoctions containing natural fiber can have disastrous results on my system.
