My surgeon also just started me on solids except bread and steak. I have no

problems with soft foods, such as cottage cheese, potato, soup, etc. But

when I eat baked fish, tuna, baked chicken, it takes forever like 4-5 hours

for it to empty out of my pouch. When I try and drink anytime before that,

I get really bad chest pain. I talked to the bariatric nurse at the

hospital today and she told me to take it easy, my body just wasn't ready

for the solid stuff yet and stay with the soft food. But it will come and I

will be able to move on to solid. She said everyone is different. I am

getting tired of soft food and wanted something more tastee, but I know this

won't last forever so for now, I will continue on the soft diet a while

longer. By the way, I am 3 weeks post-op. I guess we just have to be

patient and listen to our body. When did you have your surgery?

Subject: started solids..& depressed

Hi all,

Well I went to the Dr Tuesday and he started me on my vitamins and

solids. He said I could eat what ever I wanted. For me to try one

new item each meal. Well Im not doin so well. I ate at my moms last

night she cooked turnip greens and cornbread. Well I ate a small

peice of corbread with some of the juice off the turnips to make it

kinda mushy....I dont know if it was the cornbread or juice but it

did not settle good on my tummy...was nausiated all nite. I ate a

scrambled egg this morning the same thing...and tonight I ate mashed

potatoes with gravy which has not bothered me but tonite I couldnt

eat them...felt as tho it got stuck in my chest and I had to vomit...

I am glad that I had this surgery but in away I wished I hadnt

had it done....I am so tired of not being able to eat anything...I

drink alot of fluids and it doesnt hurt anymore...but when I eat and

have to wait for it to pass and then wait and try to drink

something...omg it hurts so bad...I had an upper GI and everything

was normal....but why do I still hurt?????

Has anyone else experienced this....Help!!!!!
