My doctor started me on a new antidepressant called Remeron. Over the years

I have tried " most " of them, however, this is a new drug and it targets both

the secretion and epinephrine. Plus it works within the first 5 days of

taking it, rather than 4 weeks. The drawback is weight gain. In fact,

they use it for people who are anorexic. He told me that most people evened

out after 10 pounds. I saw a significant improvement from this

anti-depressant, and thought I could handle the weight gain, but now that

the gain has gone past 10 pounds, I am having a hard time with it. I am

going to ask him to add welbutrin to it, as apparently this is suppose to

help curb the appetite.

I find myself between a rock and a hard place, as I was suffering

depression/agoraphobia quite bad, with no relief from any of the older

anti-depressants. This remeron has worked wonders, EXCEPT for the weight

gain. Now I have to determine the case of the two evils!!! Sheesh, that

makes me depressed

Maybe Remeron is new in Canada, but I've been on it for many years, myself.

I take 45 mgs at night. It really helps me with my sleep problems. Guess we

are all different...thank heavens it hasn't caused me any weight problems. I

also take 60 mg of Celexa...but am thinking I'm about at the end of the road

on that medication...I'm maxxed out on it...and am not feeling up to par. I

used to take 400 mgs of Trazadone along with the Remeron at night....but

after surgery, I started turning into a zombie...so was able to get off that

med completely, I'm happy to say. I also take Topomax, which I am trying to

wean myself off of too. Also Klonopin. Ah, the wonders of chemicals....ugh!

Regards~
