Guest guest
Pat, Speech exercises where you practice taking a deep breath before starting a sentance (or in the middle of a long sentance) would be helpful in getting more oxygen into the blood. This does sound like pneumonia also, has he been checked for pneumonia? The act of sitting and standing also causes the chest muscles to contract and expand. If he can no longer stand, help him sit and lay down in bed as that will also exercise the same muscles. If he can sit on the side of the bed, raising the arms as far as possible above the head, then back to his side will help (repeat at least ten times - does not have to be rapid). There are forms of OPCA which are hereditary, have they been checked for that? Here are sites with info on exercises: http://www.cnsonline.org/www/archive/parkins/park-03.txt http://www.ptjournal.org/pt_journal/PTJournal/May1999/May99/v79n5p488.cfm Take care, Bill Werre > > > Date: 2002/07/20 Sat PM 08:59:41 CDT > To: shydrager > Subject: Werre...not a lot of movement in rib cage with respiration..and manganes > > Hi Bill.
