Guest guest
Everybody got really quiet there. Guest guest
Fessing UP.......I had TWO classes of Asti Spumonte.....and OLIVES! Also a piece of pumpkin pie with cool whip. The pie was made with REAL sugar (brown .... Not too much white....I like the flavor better that way). I tried doing the splenda thing with the cranberries and threw then down the garbage disposal because I absolutely HATED the taste. I should have guessed that this would be the case.....as I have never LIKED the taste of splenda. So, we didn't have cranberries, but I made nice giblet gravy and smothered everything in the gravy. Oh yeah......the smached potatoes had REAL butter and half and half in them. What can I say. Christmas comes but once a year. Guest guest
Another thing...first of all, I haven't found a single artificial anything I like. I want my calories. In moderation. Sweet potatoes with brown sugar and real butter (I only buy margarine for my hubby who hates REAL butter on his rolls). Everything else is the real thing. Sugar, butter, etc.. I'm going to repeat. ALL THINGS IN MODERATION, AND CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. I guess I deserve some flaming. For dinner yesterday, I fixed a ham, candied sweet potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, fruit salad (with real whipped cream), peas, and black forest brownies. I didn't scrimp on ingredients. I ATE 4 bites of ham, 4 bites of sweet potatoes, 3 bites of mashed potatoes, and about 5 bites of fruit salad. I was stuffed. My dogs will get most of the left overs. Yes, I did count what I ate. If I am going to get full on the little I eat, I'm not scrimping on the flavor of it. And, believe it or not, that was all I ate all day. I didn't even taste while I was cooking. The smells overwhelmed my stomach, and once again, I wasn't very hungry when dinner was ready. Am I some kind of freak? I don't have malabsorption; I don't load up on vitamins or protein drinks. And I do the work of a 20 year old every single day. I eat what I want, in moderation, and it seems that the things that are not good for me, I don't even want. I'm satisfied with ONE Hershey's kiss, or 3 French fries. Was the surgery I had or the behavior modification I went through so different from all the RNY's, the distals and the proximals? After all, it was the early 80's. It was not a simple " stomach stapling " , but none of my intestinal tract was removed. And if it was successful (not just with me, but with at least 2 other people I know, same procedure, same doctor), why did they change it? My biggest problem? Gastric reflux, which rotted my teeth, and I have dentures now, probably from eating too late at night. My mother did not have the same problem. What am I missing here? Everything has gone exactly as expected. And I feel like a freak because of my success. I'm 5'10, and 140-160 lbs for over 20 years. I just don't get it, and I'm not sure I have a lot to contribute. I seem to be in a class all by myself. Guest guest
Oh my, and what a FANTASTIC meal it was! I didn't have any gravy, but I was all over the stuffing, chose only dark meat turkey, and thought about finishing my daughter's slice of pumpkin pie in addition to my own... saved me there, I think, because the plate had already been cleared! LOL And I lost a pound over the last two days, go figure. :-) Debbie, I'll email you the photos I took today, if you want some recent ones to post here. Guest guest
, Glad you enjoyed the dinner. We just LOVE turkey.......and I am working on turkey soup today or tomorrow. Yes, I would LOVE pictures. And YES, I will post them for this list. I have added some pictures of me.....Someone asked for us to post pictures so I did. LOL about the Plastics....you just want to come play with the dogs!!!!!!!! Which you can do any time you know. Some one had posted about being a failure. One of the things I have wanted to do for many years was to have a dog to show at dog shows. Walk that ring with a beautiful example of the breed of my choice and know that what I had on the end of the leash was not only beautiful, but healthy and happy. Before my RNY...... There was NO chance.....absolutely. This surgery for all it's WARTS and problems has made it possible for me to worry about WHEN I will have time for Plastic surgery....because of all the dog shows. I can CHASE after a 13 week old puppy. (However it is easier if you just carry treats around in your pockets...then they come to YOU!)Do I consider my self a success? Yes!!! Emphatically!!! Success comes in all sizes and shapes. (Vitalady) Curran complains all the time that I got HER legs!!! Just because she is a little on the height deprived side.......does that make her less of a success? No! Just because I am the more voluptuous version of her does this make me less of a success? NO....(I am just taller. ). I guess one really needs to define what they consider success. (Gee.....my anti-depressents must be working...that was a pretty positive post! LOLOLOL) Debbie in Gig Harbor (yes Steve there really is a Gig Harbor..... ) ladybostons@... www.paws2print.com
