Guest guest
My name is . I just graduated High School. I'm going in for surgury June 9'th to move my lower jaw moved forward and my upper jaw moved up. I'm so excited that I'm going to have a chin. Lynne, reading your last three post (May 23, 27, June 1 )helps me understand the whole process better. Just wanted to say how happy I am for you, and I wish you the best of luck on your road to healing. > hi everyone! thank you all so much for your encouragement and support > last week! Guest guest
, Be sure you have someone home with you after surgery to take care of you.....you will need it! I had my upper jaw moved up and back on April 26, 2004....and I love the results....but it was a tough road. Always remember the discomfort is temporary. I would recommend going to the Zip and Squeeze website and buying the healing jaw book. > > hi everyone! thank you all so much for your encouragement and > support > > last week! Guest guest
So glad the world looks bright for you again, Miss Lynne. It really does usually happen, even if there are some bumps along the way. That's fun about your " mumble-talk. " Keep your sense of humor going, and it'll get you through most anything! cammie > hi everyone! thank you all so much for your encouragement and support > last week! Guest guest
At least for a day or two, until you know how things are, most folks plan to have someone handy, just in case you get woozy in the shower and start to pass out, or need something you don't have or can't get. It surely helps if you have someone helping with fixing food and cleaning up, too. You'll just be tired, if you're at all like me. You're young, and I was not, so you may not have the trouble I did. You may, or may not, also experience some depression, the aftermath of the steroids they give you to suppress swelling and the anesthesia. This is biochemical, and generally does not last long. If you find that it is lasting longer than you think it should, don't hesistate to talk with your doc about it (or get someone to do so). I don't remember whether you mentioned being banded or wired -- sorry! -- I was neither, so didn't really need the zippies. Some folks plain don't like them, even some wired folks. Others find them a life-saver. If you have no use for them, and you think your surgeon or hospital is a good group of guys, you could pass them on later, or some folks have kindly offered the unused ones to later folks on the site. But if you need 'em, you'll be soo glad to have them. And I definitely think the jaw wraps are a great help. Mine have been through several groups of friends (always neatly laundered, in between, of course) who've had wisdom teeth out and other exigencies. Good wishes to you! Guest guest
- thank you for the kind words. I'm glad that my posts have helped you! I've always been the one reading about others experiences and think it's so cool that someone read mine! heehee definitely have mom help you out the first few days. I'm 22, independent, and couldn't do it alone! I even had mom stay in the hopsital with me I must admit. It wasnt easy for Ms Independent Me to rely on mom again but I am soooo glad she was there. She was so helpful. Also you'll love the cool jaw wrap. I brought mine in with me and asked that they use that out of surgery and sure enough I woke up with on it in recovery. It's really comfortable and does the job. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery! see you on the " other side " soon! ~Lynne
