what a difference a week makes!

hi everyone! thank you all so much for your encouragement and support

last week! I know my last post was all about how much pain I was in

and questioning why i had the surgery but here I am 8 days post op

and what a difference! off all pain meds, minimal swelling(saw my

surgeon today and she was amazed at the " deflation " lol), and have

some type of sensation in about 95% of my face! My only real

complaints now is the stuffy nose and being banded shut! but the

bands are off next week and I can move on to soft no chew food! but

boy am I looking foward to food! this liquid deal is quite a test of

endurance I say! And I saw my new chin! my mom took at pic of my

profile and I cried at the results. I was teased all through my

childhood about my " overbite " and no chin. At 22 I finally have a

chin!!! And I can't wait to see the bite(I only had contact on the

very back teeth) It's amazing to see the difference now!

Fun thing happened at the hospital today. in the waiting area I saw a

girl who had similar swelling and as I sat down I saw she was banded

shut too. She mumbled " did you have jaw surgery too? " we then had a

FULL mumble conversation! it was so nice to talk to someone who

understood what I was saying (and not ask a million times to repeat,

or worse look blakly and nod.) We " chatted " or shall I say mumbled on

and on, the rest of

the waiting room got quite the chuckle! thought ya'll might

appreciate

that one

once again- thank you all for your support!! This site is wonderful!

and I do finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
