Guest guest
I recently had surgery, May 5th. After surgery I noticed that I had a little dot, like a pimple that I picked or something, in between my eyes on the bridge of my nose. I remember thinking, " I didn't have a pimple.... and I didn't run into anything, I couldn't have.... I was in surgery. " Yes, I am one of those people who gets bruises and doesn't remember how. I run into things... doors, walls, other people.... yeah, it's bad. Anyway, I was joking to my husband about how the surgeon must have used that dot to line up my face... little did I know! While in my OS's office, I asked him about it. " Hey, Doc.... what's up with this little dot between my eyes... did you line up my face with it or what? " " Well, actually, we did.... " " So, what was it, like a thumb tack or something? You just poke it in? " My husband, " Yeah, he hung a plumb-bob from it! " " No, no, nothing as gruesome as a thumb tack.... more like a bar-be-que skewer. We just sort of line it up and hammer it into your nose....And you're right, it works on pretty much the same principle as a plumb-bob. We take measurements from it and make sure both sides are even. " " Uh....... oh..... just wondering..... " I have a comedian for a OS. ~Cathy
Guest guest
I had something similar, but it was more like a bruise of sorts. I asked my surgeon if he'd done something like what you described in the OR, and he swears not, he thinks it might have been the tape used to hold down the tubes going into my nose so they were out of the way of the surgeon. > I recently had surgery, May 5th. Guest guest
I too had a dot! Definitely a little puncture of some kind between my eyes. Not exactly in the middle though. Couldnt figure it out. > I had something similar, but it was more like a bruise of sorts. Guest guest
I had the dot too. I think it's caused by some sort of contraption used during surgery to retain symmetry. While I'm glad such a thing exists, that darn dot took longer to go away than almost any other surgical effect. For a while it felt like one of those awful, deep pimples under my skin, but it wasn't. It did go away, though it took it's own sweet time, and I'm talking several months here. > > I had something similar, but it was more like a bruise of sorts. Guest guest
My surgeon told me to expect the same thing, he said I would have one very small spot between my eyes and one on each side under my jaw line, and that these would be used for measuring.
