Over Anxious??

Hi there,

I had upper and lower surgery on March 23 and things have been going

well for the most part. I've been unbanded for about 5 weeks with

only two elastics from my ortho on since then.

However, I seem to go through phases of panic when I get really

worried about something going wrong, because my teeth don't seem to

touch the same way they did yesterday, there is a bit of discomfort

in an unsusal spot. . . and so on. Is this normal? I'm in a bit of

a state of high anxiety right now as my nephew head butted me in the

face yesterday and things are feeling a bit weird now. I think that

I can see a couple of my teeth wiggling when I close my bite, but I

know that I may be imagining that or it could just be from my

braces. It dosen't hurt, just feels kind of hollow where I was

hit. Mostly I'm worried that I'm over reacting all the time.

I am over reacting, right? Thanks for letting me vent.

I think probably you are indeed overreacting. But why not call your

surgeon and tell his assistant what you've told us and ask whether

you need to see him. At least that will give you reassurance, one way

or another.

I think there's been at least one other person who was the victim of

a toddler's head-butt, and no damage was done.

And I think Miz Cyn, for some reason I've never understood, found it

a good idea to close the heavy door of her enormously stylish old

Jaguar right smack on her newly rearranged face. She also did no

damage, far as I remember.

So it must be a pretty durable structure. Still, doesn't hurt to

check, if you're worried. Let the folks who really know tell you

you're worrying needlessly.
