Guest guest
Well I'm back from the ortho 4 weeks after 9 mm lower advancement. I now have 4 ugly bands on each side that are making me drool. How gross is that. I need to wear these all the time except for eating, so I guess i won't be eating out. What am I supposed to do, pop them out when the waiter shows up - yuck. I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and really hoped I wouldn't have bands but no luck. Guess I'll stick to liquids - Mikes Hard Lemonade counts as a no chew item right? What really bugs me is when people dismiss this as " just your teeth " or " just cosmetic " I've had 2 surgerys and by the time this is over 3 years and 6 months of braces. How many women would get breast implants if the Dr. said - sure, but first you need to come in every 4 weeks for 3 years while we stretch your boobs to your knees and make them really ugly, then we will do surgery to tuck them back up, but you still need to wear tight bands around your boobs for 6 more months. I don't think there would be any plastic surgeons in business. Anyway, the bills are starting to roll in, when I get them all organized i'll post the totals. I know there are always questions about cost. Someday I will smile again. Hannah
Guest guest
I think, Hannah, that it would be acceptable to your surgeon and ortho for you to pop into the bathroom to remove the bands when you enter the restaurant, or even in the car outside, if you're comfortable doing that. Then when you're done eating, pop back into the rest room and brush and put them back in place! I'd hate to think of your living on Mike's Hard Lemonade alone all through that vacation! You'd be unlikely to remember any of it! Cammie > Well I'm back from the ortho 4 weeks after 9 mm lower advancement. I > now have 4 ugly bands on each side that are making me drool. Guest guest
Hi Hannah, I agree with Cammie about the bands. I keep a stash of them in my purse, car, briefcase, etc so I can just pop them in and out when I need to. I know exactly what you mean about people thinking this is all done for cosmetic purposes. People don't question if someone has knee surgery saying " What are you doing that for? Your knees look just fine. " Also, I'll scream if I hear another person say " You're so lucky you're tiny. " (5'0 " and 87 lb) They would be too if they couldn't eat. Have fun on your vacation. I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of soft things to eat, too. > > Well I'm back from the ortho 4 weeks after 9 mm lower advancement. > I > > now have 4 ugly bands on each side that are making me drool.
