Guest guest
Hi Group, Just a short post. 48HRS post op and all is fine, thank God! Yes, my face is huge and my mouth is swollen on the inside . . . but it's one day at the time. I knew to expect this. Other than that, I have had no pain. Looking forward to a shower this afternoon. I am recouping at my " sister's " home. I am one of three boys and she and I have been friends for 30 years, so she has become family to me. She and her hubby and two wonderful teenage boys are looking after Uncle Dale! My surgeon said everything went fine. 3.5hrs! Very little loss of blood. He only had to segment the upper left jaw to fix a crossbite. The surgeon that assisted came to see me that first night and told me everything looked great. Then my OD and her office manager walked in for a visit. She and the surgeon got to talking, and as far as she could see, she was happy with the outcome also. My best friend stayed the night with me. I had great nurses. Will bring you all up to speed with more later. Okay, got to get back to my recliner! Take care all! Thanks again! With regards, Dale
Guest guest
Glad to see you made it through OK - If I may ask, what are you eating? Guest guest
Hey Dale, This is AJ, your surgery buddy here. Nice to hear you made it through unscathed, and have good friends taking care of you. That is key. I couldnt imagine trying to heal up on my own. Things are going well for me also. My surgery lasted a little over 2 hours, and the doc said things went well, with very little blood loss. He didnt even bother checking my blood count after the surgery. It's nice to be post surgery, even though this is probably the most uncomfortable part of the whole thing. I guess things will continue to get better from today on out (my doc said swelling peaks at operation day + 2). How are your nerves holding up? I'm numb from the top of my nose down to my chin, with a numbess in my inner cheeks as well. My biggest issue is the sinus pressure, as the doc told me not to blow my nose, which completely sucks, as my sinuses are all jammed up. But all in all, things are going well, especially after taking some codene. What are you eating as of now? My mom has been whipping me up some smoothies with ensure coupled with frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries & banana). She also blended up some split pea soup for dinner, which wasnt so bad. Anyways, nice to hear things are well, and warm wishes to a speedy and painless recovery. Hopefully you're taking some pictures, so we can see your progess. All the best. -AJ > Hi Group, > Just a short post. 48HRS post op and all is fine, thank God! Yes, > my face is huge and my mouth is swollen on the inside . . . but it's > one day at the time. Guest guest
OK, AJ. You're in the short rows now. Just hang on. You have the best chef in the world catering your meals. Do what you can to relax. Get someone to bring you a humidifier, if you don't have one, and some Q-TIPS and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Then go gently into that good nose, and you may find you can do some helpful things there. But be careful. Might also help if you had a steamy bath or shower, first... Steam helps loosen those upper tissues and fluids. I am not vouching for what you'll have to put up with as the discarded junk. Just be sure to be gentle, and don't go digging. Protect the tissues and the stitches, first of all. It may take more than two days -- usually does, I think. If you get out with the worst at two -- hey! Congratulate yourself and give your surgeon whatever nice present you think might be welcome! You'll get there. You're through the worst of it by now, I'd wager! Best, C. > Hey Dale, > > This is AJ, your surgery buddy here. > > Nice to hear you made it through unscathed, and have good friends taking care of > you. That is key.
