Guest guest
Started Symmetrel today. My wife asked how soon we should know if it's going to help. As the script was for one time only - and a 30 day supply, figure that the internist feels I should know something by then? Anyone else have any experience. As with all of this... seems so individualized... PD site said that PD responds to Symmetrel, but that MSA does not. My internist disagreed - and seems many here would disagree as well. Well... here we go. I wanted to wait until the symptoms were significant enough that I could notice a change - and they certainly seem that way now. Regression with PD type stuff has been quite swift lately - and I even had much more trouble this weekend with balance, but when I checked my BP - it seemed stable (of course, I checked it later). This is all soooo confusing :-) Thanks again to all. (yep - rhymes... all - :-)
Guest guest
: Does your doctor want you back in 30 days? I know when Fred's doctor put him on a new med, he'd give us a script for 30 days and then have him back to see if he could see a change in Fred. When he was put on the sinemet he started Fred off with a low dose and had him back in 30 days. He saw no change , so gave him a little larger dose and had him back in 60 days, then another larger dose and 60 days. This maybe why you only have a 30 day script. Alot of meds do have there off and on time with the MSA. Fred has been on Sinemet for 4 years, and we found this so with it, but most of the time it did help. It's just now that the doctor said that it's not working the way it should. That's because of the progression of the MSA. You may find that the Symmetrel will work for many, many years or not at all and then your doctor may want to try you on something else, but you wont know until you try. Guest guest
THANKS VERA. DIDN'T SPEND LONG IN BED, DID YOU? :-) MY DOC IS VERY ODD ABOUT APPOINTMENTS. SHE IS QUITE BUSY, AND I THINK RIGHT NOW SHE WAS JUST TRYING THIS OUT TO SEE IF IT MIGHT HELP. WE HAVE LENGTHY DISCUSSIONS WHEN I VISIT HER, SO IT'S NOT THAT SHE'S TRYING TO SHRUG ME OFF OR ANYTHING - DON'T WANT TO GIVE A MISPERCEPTION. SHE HAS ALSO MADE A REFERRAL FOR ME TO SEND MY MRIs TO CHICAGO, SO I FIGURE SHE WOULD LIKE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY GET WORD BACK TO HER ON THEM. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, SHE THINKS I MIGHT HAVE CHIARI WHICH COULD BE CONTRIBUTING TO THIS. ANYWAY, I'M NOT ON LONG TONIGHT. LONG DAY OF WORK. FEELS GOOD - BUT I'M TIRED. AT LEAST I GOT SOME REPORTS DONE AND A MEETING AND CONSULT. BY THE WAY, I DID FIND OUT THAT SYMMETREL SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE WITHIN A WEEK. CERTAINLY BY THE TIME THE 30 DAYS IS UP WE SHOULD KNOW. THAT'S BASED UPON WHAT I FOUND VIA A SEARCH LAST NIGHT. THANKS AGAIN. PAUL > : > Does your doctor want you back in 30 days?
