Guest guest
Hi all, Well, I got my results on my MRI of my feet. I have tumors in my feet. They are neuromas. These are fatty tumors which are nerve tumors. As usual, mine aren't in the place that most are found. Mine are near the heel where the nerves meet and the muscles connect to the bone. Dr. has never seen one there. The radiologist report said they were extensive and were pressing on the nerves. Looks like surgery is my only option at this point. My dr is checking with specialists to see what should be done or if he can even do it. They will only do one foot at a time and the recovery is a long painful one. The pred will delay my recovery. The chances of the surgery working is about 60%. I am suppose to hear from the dr on Monday to see what he finds out. Told him surgery was my last option, and he understood. He said that as the tumor grows it will only get worse and that now it is causing tarsel tunnel. ( Same as carpel tunnel only in the feet) This is where my numbness and leg pain is coming from. Must give it some serious thought and have lots of questions. Richs Cobra insurance runs out next November so must make a decision soon. Recovery on each foot will be about 6 months. Would never have found it without and MRI, nor would they ever have guessed that is what i had. So.....for all of you with foot pain. Please check it out... Might be something unusual too. don't know if RP related...Does anyone know??? Would some medications cause these tumors.? Just wondering. Other than my feet, I'm doing really well. Still on the Biaxin and all is good. RP is behaving itself. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week. hugs to all
Guest guest
Dear , I'm so sorry to the hear the news about your feet. Let us know as soon as you make a decision, you are the only one who knows your situation. If the feet are acting up like that how are you getting around, etc.? My feet are so weird, swell, and have shallow spots. What were your symptoms, I may have missed them with Yahoo, so we can look for them? I'm with ya Girlfriend....Sue
Guest guest
Bless your heart , I have never heard of this there before either. I will do some searching and see what I can find. I hate this for you. But at least now you know what it is and what can be done about it. What does he say about the success rate of the surgery? I'll talk to you later. Hurts while sitting and sleeping, but not as bad...I have had this for over a year. Pain started in heel pad, a burning pain and now has worked up to the arch and up my leg to the knee. I have pins and needles in my feet and can't feel most things. I tried a wheel chair at Christmas and it was easier to get around , except I will never let Rich push me again. LOL Warp 10!! LOL It just seems funny to me that it is both feet at the same time. If anyone else has these symptoms, pleas let me know. Thanks for the post Sue....Hope you are doing okay... hugs
Guest guest
Hi , So glad you finally got some answers, eventhough it is looking at a very long procedure to correct. Just know that I am thinking of you and praying that things will work out easily for your recovery. Who knows, those bad old tumors might just disappear one day, it has happened before to people when they were facing a surgery to remove something and on the day of surgery or pre-op, the thing to be removed could not be found! Love and Prayers, Lucy You did tell them that if you did elect to have surgery, it could not be before " Labor Day " didn't you? Guest guest
Hi :-) Your poor tootsies! (as Carmela calls them, Hi Carmela! :-) I did some searching for neuromas.....and found that they are located above the neck! boy, your's really are in the wrong place! Finally, I came across a term " Morton's neuroma " and found what I think you might have wrong with your feet. Try searching for " Morton's neuroma " and include the quotation marks. If you can't find some sources, let me know. I have a link here, if it will work: http://auto.search.msn.com/results.asp? cfg=SMCINITIAL&srch=5&FORM=AS5&RS=CHECKED&v=1&q=%22Morton%27s+Neuroma% 22 There are lots of websites on this link. Good luck in your searching.....and also, I hope your doctor will continue with the Biaxin, even though it might not help your feet, and that was his original intention, right? Hopefully, he will use it in the same way that the AP protocol suggests for rheumatic diseases in general. Take care and lots of hugs to you, Connie H. > Hi all, Well, I got my results on my MRI of my feet. I have tumors in my > feet. They are neuromas. Guest guest
Connie, My dr says it's not Mortons Neuroma, those are usually by your toes. LOL My books say neuromas can be anywhere and the they are tumors in the nerves. Mine just happens to be in a place they usually don't find them.LOL Yes my dr is going to keep me on the Biaxin. He is on vacation this week but I am going to give him the site you sent for Doctors. He is really interested and I THINK he will do his research. Keep your fingers crossed. LOL I am feeling alot better as far as the RP is concerned. I do have my down days from the Biaxin.... but I just go with those days...good days to catch up on my reading. LOL Hope you have a great weekend... Hugs > Finally, I came across a term " Morton's neuroma " and found what I > think you might have wrong with your feet. Guest guest
Lucy, thanks for the encouragement. I had a friend whose son broke his neck. While they were taking him in to surgery the dr who was assisting came walking up with a x ray and asked him if he had any pain. He said no. He held up the xray and told him there was no need for surgery... the bones had healed during the time he was in a body cast and the can't explain it. Yes, miracles happen. I will be in Okie land if I have to come in a wheel chair. LOL Love & hugs > old tumors might just disappear one day, it has happened before to people > when they were facing a surgery to remove something and on the day of > surgery or pre-op, the thing to be removed could not be found! > > Love and Prayers, Lucy > > You did tell them that if you did elect to have surgery, it could not be > before " Labor Day " didn't you? > >

What does he say about the success rate of > the surgery Lu from what my dr said it was 60%. but that was when they were in a different place. LOL Believe me, I will keep asking.. will talk to the podiatrist who does these on a reg basis, or at least neuromas that are where they should be. LOL hugs
