Hey everyone,

I had upper/lower/genio June 2nd...back home now and trying to take

it a day at a time. Something that is bothering me a little is

cleaning my mouth after every meal - Im brushing with a childrens

toothbrush on the teeth and wires only, and then I try to rinse out

as best I can with a syringe and water. But some toothpaste gunk and

saliva still ends up in my mouth no matter how much I rinse, which

sometimes causes me to cough involuntarity after a while. Any tips

on improving this?

I am now 7 weeks post-op, having had upper/lower/genio as well. I

was wired for 4 weeks, and during that time, I brushed with a childs

toothbrush, and used the waper-pik religously. I truly think thats

the BEST way you're going to every feel like the reside form meals

will makes its way out of the inside of your mouth. A little

mouthwash will also help, but I found that my breath was pretty bad

regardless. Anyway, I had bands during weeks 5 and 6, and FINALLY

for the splint off. I'm feeling great and am thrilled with the

results.

If you have any questions, feel free to email.

Best of luck,

I am glad you are making it through and hope for a speedy recovery.

My daughter is 16 and is going to have surgery on Monday June 14th. I

bought her a waterpick. I was told this would take care of the food

etc., left behind. Keep me updated on how you are doing. Good luck.

You shouldn't use the waterpick until your doc says its ok, a lot of

damage can be done if you use it right after surgery.
