Hi, I'm new, having surgery in 3 weeks

Hi, my name is Meryl and i am having surgery on June 28 to fix my

underbite. I have been looking around this message board for months

now reading what you guys have said and the supprt you guys have

given each other. I've just been too nervous to post. but now with

my surgery so soon, it is getting kind of scary. i have had braces

since december and will have my mouth wired shut for 6 weeks post

op. i just got my surgical wires and hooks put on this past week

and the reality and closeness of the surgery is finally kicking in.

well i just wanted to introduce myself for now, talk to you all

later.

Hi! I'm having surgery in three weeks too! I haven't gotten my

surgical hooks yet (one week before the doc said) but I'm definely

feeling more nervous as the days wear on.. I'm having my upper jaw

moved forward and my bottom jaw moved back to correct my underbite.

Feel free to write to me if you want to talk some more

and Kim, thank you so much for your replies. you guys

have definitely helped me and made me a bit more comfortable with

everything that is/will be going on in the near future. Kim, I'm

glad that you are having an easy time with your recovery you sound

so excited! it's good to hear that everything is going so well.

, I guess it will be you and me, and we will be counting

down the days to our surgeries together!

i'm going to the oral surgeon on thursday to see how everything is

looking. as of now he will be moving my lower jaw back i think 5

mm. i'm hoping that they don't have to move my upper jaw forward,

but we will see on thursday.

how is the " eating? " my mouth will be wired shut for 6 weeks. can

you only drink thin fluids like juices and broth as of now? kim, how

is the swelling? and the speaking? have you lost a lot of weight? my

doctor said i will loose 10 or so pounds. my mom is nervous about

the weight loss. anyway, hope all is well with the two of you.
