Guest guest
My surgery was done at Fort Bragg. My surgeons were great, but I was just wondering if anyone had any problems with their jaw since surgery. My orthodontist is going to try a splint to see if it takes the pressure off my joints. Hope this works. I was just wondering if it was something that may have happened during surgery or if (like the doctors are saying) just something that happened...the TMD..or idiopathic condjular resorption. Well, just let me know if anyone is familiar with this or can help figure things out. Thanks!
Guest guest
a- I have similar problems, although it doesnt sound as if they are as severe as yours. My TMJ joints pop routinely now, and they have locked open a few times. The surgeon says that he probably misaligned things by a mm or so in surgery and that there 'isnt a dam thing he can do about now'. Maybe a splint would help . . . > My surgery was done at Fort Bragg. My surgeons were great, but I > was just wondering if anyone had any problems with their jaw since > surgery. Guest guest
I can only tell you what my surgeon told me: Surgery can resolve TMJ problems, or it can make them worse, or they can just happen. Whatever, the pressures on the joint change -- maybe in a way that resolves a problem, and maybe in a way that creates a problem. My periodontist thinks that the surgery prevented some joint trouble. I did have some pain before surgery. I do have a little now, but nothing really significant. I think, judging from the look of my retainers, that I'm clenching and/or grinding some, still. Ortho said we might have to try a splint if it becomes troublesome enough. Not much help, I know. I think that TMJ stuff can be quirky and unpredictable, as well as difficult to manage, but I'm no expert. Cammie > My surgery was done at Fort Bragg. Guest guest
Sheesh! That is not the answer I would want from my doc. Can any other doc give you a different one? That's just plain nasty.
