Guest guest
Suzanne, 4 weeks post op is not very far a long in the healing process. Trust me )I had my surgery this past Oct. 27) you still have lots more healing to do. You also have swelling underneath & your face is still taking shape & settling. Relax, you will look great. This process takes some time, you need to be patient.

This > process takes some time, you need to be patient. > > Hey, don't worry!! I am 7 weeks post op as of today, and I remember my face at 4 weeks. In fact we took a picture b/c it was my 8th grade going away dance, and I had organized it and such and I looked at that picture. My swelling has gone down soo much, and at the time I thought I was screwed and that it wouldn't get any better. Yesterday, my mom called my surgeon and asked him 1)if my plates screws etc. would go off when i am screened for our flight this weekend and 2)if my swelling was going to go down b/c just yesterday I was getting kinda of nervous that this was the end result, and I would not be happy this way. Everybody says the swelling is like all gone, a bit of it comes back after a hard practice. I was having a hard time yesterday believing my surgeon, I was like " he's just telling me that so I don't complain and so I believe him, it's not gonna get any better. Today I went shopping, and I looked in the mirror and I realized how far I've come. Try to focus on that, considering I bet you were quite a bit more swollen that first week. I have quite a few friends that have had orthognathic surgery and they all said before that it takes some time to go down but you will look just great. So trust me on this, you have a way to go as do I so let's just hope for the best, I'm pretty sure it will turn out great, even though just yesterday I was like he's just saying that so I don't think or tell him he messed up. Good luck, and you will look great and you will be very happy u had the surgery very very soon.

Also, have you run a search on this message board for this subject? I remember someone mentionning a kind of massage that may help for people with difficult swelling. Guest guest
The problem is that I don't look swollen, yet my mouth isn't fitting together properly. As per the others' suggestions, I think I will wait and see what happens. Thank you for your advice, everyone! -Suzanne > > My doctor keeps telling me to > > massage my face and that it is still swollen and it will go away.. I > > am starting to not believe him. Guest guest
You may not think you look swollen but I would bet that you do have swelling underneath it all. Trust us who are telling you the same that your doctor is telling,,,it is way too early on for this to be your final result. 4 weeks is not a lot. I am 7.5 months post op and some days I still feel & see a bit of swelling. RELAX
