Guest guest
Hi! I was looking back at some of the old posts (actually, trying to find a previous poster who had a child with a cleft palate, and actually manages a cleft palate site or group, for our new friend with that trouble)... Anyhow I found this recipe that Fiddlesticks posted shortly after her surgery, and thought you, Mr. Blueberry, and others still doing soft/liquid stuff might enjoy it: > - 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk > - 2 ripe bananas (make sure they have brown spots for best flavour) > - 1/2 cup (125 ml) orange juice, freshly squeezed (we cheated and > bought Tropicana) > - 1/2 tsp (2 ml) pure vanilla extract > - 3/4 cup (185 ml) natural yogurt or kefir > - 2 Tsp (30 ml) honey > - 2 cups (500 ml) fresh blueberries (or frozen if not in season) > > In a blender, blend milk and bananas until smooth. Add remaining > ingredients, leaving the blueberries to the end. Blend on low just > long enough to mix ingredients well (we actually pureed when we added > the blueberries so that the skins would be in smaller pieces). > > Drink immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes 4 cups. > Can substitute raspberries or strawberries. > > Our substitutions were vanilla ice cream instead of yogurt (and > halved the amt of vanilla extract), and we used wheat malt instead of > honey. > > It was pretty yummy! Thanks a lot! I managed to acquire all the ingredients today (or rather I had my friend do the shopping) except the orange juice. So tomorrow, I'll be trying it! Question : do I have to unfreeze the blueberries ? I know, it's a stupid question.. I'm not good at cooking... Thanks! Ray
Guest guest
They'll probably unfreeze while you blend 'em, but if you have them already, why not put them in the refrigerator overnight, and then they'll be ready for sure by in the morning. And if you're feeling weak, you do know that you can blend a bit of peanut butter into a chocolate shake and boost both the calories and the flavor appreciably. Just be sure you blend it in well, so that the whole thing is thin enough to be manageable. I'd try a tablespoon or so to a regular drink. No question is stupid, whether it's about surgery or cooking, I think. So stupid of Yahoo!... Anyway... Thanks for the Peanut Butter tip. I remember reading a smoothie recipe with peanut butter, and as it's my single foremost prefered ingredient in the whole world, I would have liked to have recipes with it... Any ideas ? I already have Peanut Butter, Chocolate Quick and real milk (2%) at home, as well as plain yogout and vanilla yogourt. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks! Guest guest
Yahoo was having troubles at the time, I think. Some of 'em had to do with making things work, and others were financial/economic. But it really screwed up some folks. I know one guy on another site who'd posted a lot of photos without keeping copies and lost every one. (Moral to that story, always keep a copy of anything you want for your own archives!) Peanut butter: no need, really, for a recipe. Just add a tablespoon or so to any smoothie, and blend away. some scoops of ice cream (any flavor), some milk or cream, some chocolate syrup (like about a tablespoon or so). All of this to taste, in the blender. Whizz it to your desired degree of thinness, and slurp away! You can also add half a banana, and/or any fruit you like. How was the blueberry/honey/yogurt slush? A votré bon santé C. > > They'll probably unfreeze while you blend 'em, but if you have them > > already, why not put them in the refrigerator overnight, and then > > they'll be ready for sure by in the morning. > > > > And if you're feeling weak, you do know that you can blend a bit of > > peanut butter into a chocolate shake and boost both the calories and > > the flavor appreciably.
