Guest guest
Hi Folks, Reading all websites I cannot find having anemia is a symptom of msa. Are there more people suffering from this? Anne had a biopt twice: once the chestbone and once in the hip. That revealed that the production of red cells was low. To low, but not low enough to point out a disease. We had her blood tested for the amount of epofirine, but somehow they mislead the results. Doing this examination takes a time of at least 5 months because of the rareness of this test. The doctor did not wait for another test, but prescribed erythropoietine. (Professional bicyclists do take this as a doping.) The result is that Anne is capable of doing more things. Walking is better and she is less bent over. She even rode her sidecar again! The anemia is gone and the doses are reduced to 6000 i.e. twice a week. What do I want to point out. First, is she the only one with anemia? And second, if not, you might learn from this story with happy ending. Hugs, Timo

Guest guest
Timo, When they were still running tests on me, one of the things they tested for was anemia. When I did a little research on it I was surprised to find that there are probably 20 different kinds of anemia. I discovered that “Iron deficiency anemia” had symptoms similar to MSA. Unfortunately, the tests indicated that was not what I had. I am glad that you found something that is helping Anne! Guest guest
Timo and Anne, My dad is 82 and has MSA. He has had some problems with Anemia and has had several transfusions in the past year. I have been told that it is not a symptom of MSA. After his transfusions he is much better and can do more also! Hope this helps.
