Vera! I have two potato plants....just for fun (for grandkids to see when we harvest.) When do you dig - when the plant dies? Boy oh boy, you will have to have a big St. Patty's Day celebration with all of your potatoes! Please keep everyone posted on how many you get - this is really interesting! And thanks again for all of your information on pressure sores - what a deal. Just when I thought we were doing pretty well......

Vera,

If you have a cool dry basement, 39 plants should last you until about 2050. (LOL)

Next time you plant potatoes, try this method. IT will work.

Get an old tire fill the tire full of planting medium(what ever dirt you want). As your plants grow, add another tire until you get to four. Put straw inside each added tire. When harvest time comes, remove the tires and find all your potatoes!. they will not have to be dug, and sometimes you can lift the top of the plant and all the plant and potatoes will come out at one time.

An old farmer trick, from an old farmer....

Same goes with Fred, Ann. One day will be bad and the next will be better, so he try's to do as much as he can on those days. He likes to feed the birds and likes to pick the tomatoes and things that I planted this year. The tomatoes are all getting ripe at the same time and I've been making salsa everyday. I'm trying Potatoes this year for the first time. I think I may of planted to many. You think 39 plants are to many for a family of two? I think we're going to have potatoes coming out our ear's. Oh well live and learn. Good to see youHugsVera********************Vera,We all love your post and info that you send, Al is hanging in there. Some days are very bad and then other days are great. He goes out and waters the tomatoes and pepper plants every day (we havea pump that we get the lake water)I let him do what he can do without stopping him. He is very stooped buthe just loves to be outside.Ann from Soddy,TNIf you do not wish to belong to shydrager, you may unsubscribe by sending a blank email to shydrager-unsubscribe
