Guest guest
Flaring, , and all, Even during a flare you may not have an elevated sed rate. I have had RP since 1987 and this is my FIRST flare that included my OUTER ear. It was once thought to be the beginning process, however the current medical text have it listed as being presented at any time during the course of the disease. R. The Support Report http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheSupportReport < I went round and round with my rheumy on this.... He told me if my ears weren't flaring then nothing was... I think that is a bunch of you know what. I have had my ribs flare when nothing else was or my nose and not my ears... I know I am not an expert, but I don't agree with him at all. He also said I have to have an elevated sed rate to be flaring and I know many in the group have had normal sed rates while flaring. >>,I've had the exact same experience. My Rheumy says if my ears aren't red, then I'm not flaring. But, WE know better. What do you do with these educated doctors???Love,
Guest guest
Hi , My first symptom of RP was an external nose flare across the bridge, next it was the external area of the left ear, not the lobe though. Have often wondered why it never has gotten my right ear. Then I got vasculitis. Now I am having some left eye problems. I have a question to ask you. How did your doctor's dx you in 1987 when you hadn't yet had the ear or nose flare. I'm just curious about this. You must have had one of the other symptoms that I've not yet experienced. Hope you are feeling better and the flare has let up. I started on the metho Sunday night. Monday was not a good day!!!!!!! Have felt a little better as the week has progressed. Tomorrow I see the rhumatologist in Spokane. Very quiet 4th here. Too hot to do anything except vegetate in the house with the A/C going full blast. Think it 106 out there now. I rented " Cast A Way " and watched that this AM. Good movie. Take care and get well soon. Guest guest
Hi R, Lucy here. I was diagnosed in Jan. 2000 when I first had horrible ear aches in both of my ears at the same time. That was on a Sunday evening. By Tuesday morning when I woke up, Both of my ears were so swollen on the inside and outside that you could hardly tell that they were ears!!! And the pain was horrendous, they were so hard, so hot, so blistered and so red!!! I went to my GP and he sent me immediately to the ENT clinic. There, one Dr. called three others in to see me and they all said at the same time RELAPSING POLYCHONDRITIS so there is the first I knew of the terrible disease. I too, have been having what I call threats of a flare, the warm ear, twinges in my inner ears, etc. on top of the Fibromyalgia. You take care and catch the Love and Prayers coming your way, Lucy Flares and ears Flaring, , and all, Even during a flare you may not have an elevated sed rate.
