My eye surgeon, who is a cornea specialist, said that there's no

restrictions related to my gastric bypass for my next cornea transplant,

which is a lot more complicated than LASIK or PRK, though he'd prefer

that my lab work all be within normal ranges. He wants to see the

anesthesia reports for my RNY and my plastics though because he said it

could be useful to my anesthesiologist for the PKP (penetrative

keratoplasty, or cornea transplant). I actually doubt this, because at

128 pounds I am so much healthier than I was at 310 pounds, and the

elimination of my sleep apnea and reduction in my asthma's GOT to make a

difference, right? Plus the transplant's done under local anesthesia

with sedation, not a general anyway.

Hey ceep -

I had Lasik on both eyes in Oct '00. I don't think post-GBS would have any

bearing on this eye surgery (unless, possibly, you project-vomit

routinely/daily with such force to cause undue pressure on your eyes).

It was a walk-in-the-park. I was really near-sighted and it improved

immediately. No problems whatsoever. I do have to admit, it took at least

one year for my night vision to improve. It was somewhat scary driving in

the dark for me, and like an idiot, I had my surgery done in October, in

Alaska, when it's dark almost all day until April!! Some of us never learn.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
