Have u tried that papery kind of tape that hospitals use sometimes for

sensitive skin? I don't know what it's called, but many years ago it was

available in drug stores. There's also a tape that hairdressers used to use

back in the 60's, 70's to tape hair down onto the face (spit curls and the

like). It was pink and had zig-azggy edges. Maybe a visit online to 3M

company (they MUST have a website, I'd think) would give u some

options..............

Ouch! Peroxide is pretty darned drying. Don't think that would help much.

Two words ... " paper tape. " Ask the pharmasist or your doctor. There are

several kinds that are thin and have anti-reactive adhesive.

You should have seen my face after my open RNY. My surgeon said I looked

like I'd been hit in the face by a crazed person. I was all cutup and red

and horrible looking from the NON-paper tape they used on my face for the

oxygen. I TOLD THEM NORMAL MEDICAL TAPE DIDN'T WORK FOR ME. Guess it took

the sight of me all torn up for them to believe me!!! Geeesh!

Paper tape. It works. I had rhinoplasty on my nose, and that doctor

listened. No problems. (Beware of constant tissue wiping and you suggested.

You may get a reaction from that as well.)

Hiya all. 4 days post op having four surgeries on my sinus. I

still have to wear gauze (drip pad) taped under my nose. My problem

is that all the tapes I have tried are tearing my skin. I am

thinking I have thin, old skin!! I have little cuts in places all

along my cheeks, and heavy red areas. I don't know what to put on

it...I've decided I'll just blot at my nose with a tissue, not more

drip pad...but what do I do now about the areas on my face?? Any

suggestions would be very much appreciated. ((hugs)) and smiles =))

Deb, I am not real sure what to do about that. I was thinking though,

that maybe some aloe vera or maybe even a little perioxide or maybe even

just good old moisturizing soap.

You need to keep the areas MOIST, use bacitracin for a little while,

let them heal sowly. When you see your doc agian. Ask him for some

recomendations. Just be careful, you do not want bad scars on your

face.

It will look really dumb and dorky, but tape burn does too... :-) so try

holding the absorbent pad on with 2 " wide gauze wrapped around your

whole head. That will hold it on without any tape at all. I have had to

do this in the past after eye surgery; can't stand tape on my face

either. I sort of played up the pirate thing once I felt well enough.

;-) Good luck!

Hi Deb........the main thing I would suggest is to check what kind of tape

it is. After the surgery for my RNY complications the nurse sent me home

with the " wrong " tape...she sent me home with IV tape......ripped the

daylights outta my skin........the scars have never gone away after 2

years........really ticks me off!! HTH... P.
