Guest guest
Hello, again! I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with gum disease with me. I am five weeks post-op. At around three weeks I noticed my gums were puffy and irritated. In just a few days they went to very swollen, cracked, and bleeding even when I was not brushing. I called my OS and the nurse said just to keep brushing with a soft brush. I went for an appointment the following week (week 4) and my OS gave me Peridex rinse. I am now at week 5. My gums are still irritated but not as swollen as they were. In fact, after the swelling went down my gums were actually recessed, a couple milimeters, even! I couldn't believe it. I have read that this is permanent (?).... I am so worried. I go back to the OS tomorrow and to my regular dentist on Thursday for a check-up and cleaning, but I was really wanting to hear from any of you who have had a similar problem. Thanks, ~Cathy
Guest guest
Didn't have that trouble, although I have long-standing perio troubles. If it continues to bother you, ask your general dentist, your ortho, your surgeon, or all of 'em, to refer you to a good periodontist. Mine is a treasure, and has helped more than I can tell you. Hydrogen peroxide also helped me, or Gly-oxide, as did fluoride gel and rinse... Good wishes..
