Well, just *wait* until you get home and about 3 weeks into it, you still have a cupboard full of soups (that you are by then SICK of seeing . . .) you've pitched four or five of the yogurt six-packs because the date expired, and you've still got 5-6 packs of applesauce, and you've pitched 3-4 quarts of juice . . . and you're ready to go out and find some *real* food . . . Guest guest
Hi maureen, Sorry about your pancreatitis - it is not a fun thing to go through and I cannot imagine how you do it while taking care of 5 boys. It is more than I can handle just taking care of me and 5 kitties. As far as food is concerned: in my case any food or drink causes me problems. I find that the amount of food that I eat in a day or at a sitting affects pain levels sometimes, more than what I eat. Of course the fatty foods are most likely the culprits although I can eat cheese, custard and candy without having unbearable levels while an alfredo sauce can land me on my back - there is no telling what does what, when. Now that I have mild acute pancreatitis from my ERCP, all food and drink are causing alot of pain. Not sure it this info helps, but wanted to let you know that your post is being read! Laurie (actually I am a Laureen, with an L so we have something else in common)
Guest guest
Maureen, you have to go by what works for you. Just because a food is low in fat does not mean it won't cause pain. It is a trial and error process and you must experiment. Good Luck. Guest guest
Hi Maureen, I think the 1st thing you need to do is keep a food journal. I would keep track of everything you eat and how you felt after wards. Maybe that way you can determine what foods are causing you problems. Take Care. Guest guest
Hi, is Maureen your name? I wanted to welcome you to the group, but I'm sorry you are having to deal with pancreatitis. The foods that I've found work the best are mushy foods, like oatmeal, cream of wheat, cream of rice, mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, and reduced or low fat soups. Guest guest
Hi everyone ! My surgery isn't until the end of July for lower jaw advancement. I will be banded closed I don't know for how long. I'd love to have the smoothies, milkshakes, etc. But the problem is I'm extremely lactose intolerant(even the lactose free stuff bothers me becauseof the fat in it) and also allergic to bananas. I know....I'm a freak! So... gods and goddesses of oral surgery.. I ask for your infinite wisdom to aid in my quest for food and recipes. Happy healing to all.
