Guest guest
Ok, and this is the latest thing I've heard for good luck on New Years (and trust me.....right now I'm open to anything! heck, I'll even remove the pink hearts from my pictures if it will help!) So this has to do with polkadots. Seems you have to wear an NEW item of clothing with polkadots on New Years Eve. Got to be wearing it at midnight. The bigger the dots the better.....as that's how the bad luck gets out leaving room for the good luck I suppose. So tonight, after the earth shattering news of the day, I went to K Mart with my sister and niece and got me some Joe Boxer shorts. I'm told that happy faces qualify as polka dots. Sure do hope so! But to be sure, after that I went to the grocery store and got some dried black eyed peas, ham hocks and creamed herring! Guest guest
HEY, can I join you guys under the covers and in the cave? As we usher out the old year and bring in the new year I sit here with the SECOND UTI for the month of December! I woke up this morning in agony. I feel like crap and the cipro makes my stomach upset. I have lost COUNT how many UTI's I have had this year, but it has gone beyond ridiculous. Soooo.....I wanna join you guys. Guest guest
Ok, so the black eyed peas are cooked. My kapusti is made, I got some darn herring!! (I'll add pickle juice to it and we can call it pickled....it's gotta be close!) I work my polka dots last night and even have a reserve set of dots for the day. Some of you may know about the New Years Knocker (insert joke here) We did that too! As I recall, your first visitor or person in your door after midnight had to be a good looking man. You would then give him a drink and that somehow also had to do with good luck for the next year. So after DH and I stood in the street watching the fireworks from the Strip and Downtown Vegas (and boy the Strat fireworks were great!) he crossed the proverbial threshold, I got him and beer and we completed that tradition. And then I remembered yet another!. Every year my grandmother would give the women (those who had homes/families) an apron with a dollar bill pinned in the pocket. You had to wear it on New Years Day and the dollar was so you would never be broke. You'd always have money in your pocket. So I have 3 aprons, one for sis and niece...and they better bring a buck to pin on my apron! I covered all I could..... Lola in Las Vegas (cause Sue is still hibernating in the dark) Re: good luck??
