Hi Bill:

I've wrote your name here three time's and then changed it. First time it was in a 8 size's, but didn't think you could read it ( I almost couldn't), then I put it in a 10, but still wasn't sure, so I put it to this 12. I remember you writting about not being able to read something's. So I wanted to make sure that you didn't have a bad time reading this. I give you enough bad time huh?? :o)

Now the answer to your question, do I pinches those sucker's off. Now would I do that? :o) never, never, never. Had Hannah help me pick some tomatoes the other day. She had one tomatoe in each hand and a pair of my shoes on that are out of rubber that I wear when it's wet. She's trying to walk around in these shoes and fell , and I have a arm full of tomatoes , so I can only get her up with one hand. I'm telling her to put the tomatoes down , so she can get up with her hand, but she won't let go of these tomatoes for nothing. Well I got her up , using the one arm I have , her in those shoes still and both tomatoes in her hands still. You can only guess what those two tomatoes look like by now. :o)

The corn I could do without, but Fred wouldn't let me get away with that. Fred can hardly wait till I plant it. He starts early in the year asking for it.

Fred loves to feed the birds , so we have all kinds of feeders around( but you saw that) the birds are pushing some of the seeds to the ground, and I've enclosed a picture of the garden that the birds planted.

I guess you can tell that I've learned how to scan , and send the pictures now. I don't know why you didn't tell me that it was so easy? I was making it more work then it was, but then you know me ... Story of my life.

Vera,

You can buy round tomato cages or the metal fence posts make good tomato stakes

(the ones for chicken wire or the rectangular wire fence), they have little

hooks on them which hold up the ties. Are you pinching off the suckers- that

makes them top heavey but makes the plant less bushy.

See you also grew corn :o) Doesn't pay to grow corn on a small plot :o) (like

potatoes :o) A couple of cucumber plants and pepper plants will supply you

with a lot of produce (like tomatoes). I always grew radishes, but they seldom

made it into the house :o) Carrots worked well here also, but I had to work

some sand and organic material into the clay first.

You could also pick a south facing wall and attach the tomato plants to it.

That would also work for sunflowers and your birds would love you for planting

sunflowers :o)

Be careful of using tires, steel belted radials will often have the belts come

through the tire and cut you badly. I used 2x4's nailed into 2 foot squares

which did the same thing, don't use pressure treated however, it has poison in

it. If you hang them up in a garage or shed over the winter, they last about

3-4 growing seasons.

Take care, Bill Werre
