I got a booklet in the mail this week about a whole bunch of natural healing,

treatments, etc. One of the discussions was on osteoporosis. Thought the

group might find the following of interest:

----------------

Women with high-alkaline systems have stunning bone quality and high energy

levels. For most, every time we eat a steak or take an rx or get stressed,

our system neutralizes the resulting excess acid by borrowing from our

alkaline bank: which is the minerals stored in our bones. Nuts, rice, honey,

fish, and many veg's can restock our alkaline bank. Or you can take

" Alka-Aid " a mix of potassium & sodium bicarbonate available in health food

stores.

Milk is so acidic, it can make the problem worse. Women with the highest

calcium consumption from dairy products have more fractures than those who

drink less milk. Mild exercise will reduce risk of fractures by 25%. Soy

foods (or 50-150mg daily of isoflavones supplement) will help protect not

only agnst bone loss, but breast cancer as well.

------------------------------

This is not the first time I have heard good things about maintaining a high

pH level (alkaline vs acidic balance) in the body. Elsewhere I previously

read that pH above (can't remember the number now) is an indication of

problems down the road with various types of chronic and/or autoimmune

diseases. THAT article suggested using litmus paper strips to test your pH

level. Someone else on here might have better details.................
