Guest guest
and I had a rare day out today, and whilst we were out there was a telephone call from the London hospital to say could not take part in the test as he was not confirmed with MSA which she said can only be confirmed with a test on the brain after death................I am very confused, do they only want corpses to take part. I will ring tomorrow to find out what they are up to, needless to say john is very disappointed. JILL
Guest guest
Jill What a frustrating experience. It is so difficult to get diagnosed by whatever means. To tell you that he will will be in the study and to have that taken away is horrible. I had that happen to me twice and it just makes you want to throw your hands up in the air in exasperation. Give a big hug from us and tell him how sorry we are that this happened. There is a doctor in London who CAN make a definitive diagnosis of MSA through deoxy-hydro-glucose PET and [18] Fleurodopa PET scans. Both would have to be done to make the determination of which PD Plus disorder it is. His name is Dr. J. , MD, DSc, FRCP, Fmed Sci Quite a title, I know. He is the Hartnett Professor of Neurology and Head of the Department of Sensorimotor Systems in the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College, London. He is also Head of the Neurology Group at the Medical Research Council Clinical Scinces Centre, Hammersmith Hospital, London. He is Chief Medical Officer of Imanet and Clinical Director of Imaging Research Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Amersham Health PLC. He is Chairman of the Scientific Issues Committee of the Movement Disorders Society, a member of the International Research Advisory Board of the MJF Foundation, a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of the UK PD Society (Chairman, 1996-7) and UK Huntington's Disease Association. etc. etc. et. This is his bio or at least part of it. It was his speech and slides at PAN that got so fired up to go and have the PET scans done on me so that a definitive dx could be made. Sorry, I don't have any phone numbers but I hope this will at least be a door for you and and his not being allowed into a study b/c of whatever mystery dx he has.
