Guest guest
Thanks Rose, What a relief to find someone who has taken this drug! Thank you so much for responding. Can you tell me how much it has helped the OH? On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being no more OH in your life. Does the injection pain bother you? Who gives you the injections? Do you (or your docs) think that your gall bladder, kidney, liver etc. problems are due to the octreotide? My husband just said that you are lucky because you have a doctor that knows how to monitor the drug. Ours is clueless----and admits it. Also, since diarrhea is his main problem, more than OH, will the diarrhea get worse? Of course none of us knows that without trying it. I'm so glad that you can be back in your profession again. Business is a good way to forget about your physical problems---most of the time. Barbara Woodford, in Illinois
Guest guest
Barbara, You are welcome. I will try to answer your questions here in case others need the info. However, if you would like a copy of the arms length suppliment brochere that is included with the drug, please email me and I can get it out to you. We are not sure if any of the tummy problems are just autonomic or drug related or ?????, I may know more soon. The list of possible side effects is endless. I had a good response on octreotide with OH. I monitored my bp and I would say 3 1/2 on the scale you ask. I hadn't gotten into the study long enough to have a certifed rating. I give myself the injections, this is not something I thought I could ever do. We learn we can deal with more than we think. The nurse at my doctors office was a good teacher. I do it in my legs because I still can not bring myself to stick my tummy. I can take a lot of pain and thats a blessing since I'm not such a good shot. The study does include a monthly injection and I am hoping I can get those. This is after 6 months of proven effects on daily shots. I am not sure what effects it will have on his diarrhea, I can tell you it didn't take long to affect my constipation (w/ in 1 week). I am curious about the doc at mayo. If possible to have him regulate and even maybe report back results through your other doc I agree w/ Bill its worth a try. I hope this helped. w/ WV hugs Rose
