Guest guest
Hi Everybody!! I'm hoping someone can give us some ideas to help my mother. She is at a stage right now, where we can no longer hear her anymore. My sister is her major caregiver and she is getting frustrated and doesn't know what to do. My mom is now trying to write things down, but even that doesn't always work well either. If any of you have ideas to help us communicate better with her, we would appreciate it very much. Thanks, Darras
Guest guest
, Cards with two answers like YES NO, TV PAIN, Channel Sound, work well. She can signal you which answer she wants. Speech therapy may help get some sound back also, the doctor can prescribe it so insurance will pay for it. Guest guest
, I just went and did a web search for speech aids for the handicapped and the google server came back with a lot of different places who have devices for people whose speech becomes problematic. Here is just one link I found " http://www.adamlab.com/id21.htm Just go to Google or your favorite search engine and put communication device for the handicapped or some variation of it and I believe you will find what you are looking for. Hope this helps, Deborah aka Tenacity ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Everybody!! I'm hoping someone can give us some ideas to help my mother. Guest guest
This reminds me of something I've heard of twice lately..............SIGN LANGUAGE. It seems there is a system of signing used with very young babies. I believe this is to communicate certain wants and needs even before a child has learned to talk. Couldn't a system of signing be developed for sick and disabled persons (such as MSA) advanced to the point of non=talking? I think I'll work on that with my family and friends. barbara pond blacksburg va
