I was cleared to eat soft foods right away. However, I was not up to it at

first. I was on liquids for the first few days. When I could eat soft foods, I

had so many more options. Here is what I mostly enjoyed:

Mashed Potatoes (I had some at every lunch and dinner :)

Sweet Potatoes

Cooked Chopped Spinach

Cooked Squash

Various Meats in the food processor (Chicken, Pork, Beef, yes, even a steak!)

Meatloaf

Applesauce

Soft fruits (peaches)

Oatmeal

Grits

Eggs

Cream of Wheat

Yogurt with Fruit

LOTS and LOTS of Ice Cream

I, like many others, tried noodles first! What was I thinking??? I had the

hardest time with them getting stuck in my brackets and hooks... what a mess!

Anyway, many of you who recently had surgery are getting to soft foods, so I

thought I would share my favorites :) Me? Six weeks, and I'm now progressing

to chewing normally!! YIPPIE~! (Still nothing too hard... but I can chew!) I

even had a Happy Meal yesterday!! I never thought I would be so HAPPY!!!!

Hey Cathy, those happy meals sure live up to their name for post-

oppers with limited opening and chewing ability, don't they? I

remember the one I had on the way to work one day when I was cleared

for " anything I thought I could manage " .

Hope you enjoyed the free toy too!

I got the " three and under " toy and gave it to my baby :) He's 14 months and a

doll! One of the hardest things during this whole surgery was field questions

about nursing him. Not from my OS, Ortho, GP, or Pediatrician... but from my

family... who thinks he should have been weaned long ago!

Oh well, I'm his Momma, and I was going to do it as long as I could!
