Guest guest
Hi all, I am just new in this site and still gathering information before I decide to put the brace for the second time in my life and this time--with surgery for both upper and lower jaw. I have Maloclusion Class II and my ortho said that if I want to improve my look this time I have to go with surgery becuase there is no way to make my teeth more streight than this without jaw surgery. The problem is that when I went to see the surgeon, he did not agree with this --he said I will have only 10% improvement, plus I am a petite so I really don't need a strong jaw line that much??? If he were me he wouldn't do that!!!! I don't know if he sincere or if he just dosen' want to do surgery for me since he mentioned a lot about his being unfamiliar with Asian face!!! As Jay and some people suggested, I should get the second opinion, but the issue is that if I had to find new ortho, get diagnosed, and have him/her refer me to another surgeon that he/she prefer to working with, and see the surgeon again. This time-consuming and repeating process might be better than trying to save time but then have some more problems after surgery. huh... had any one has the case like this? Share with me, please. Guest guest
I did not face that problem. But this is not an issue in which speed is important. Any changes you get will probably be slow ones, until the surgery, anyhow, and after it, if you have it. Take the time to find dental experts you trust. And there are many in the United States, anyhow, who are of Asian extraction. There have even been several members here who posted from Singapore and were having treatment by specialists there. If you believe Asian facial characteristics figure into your trouble, why not seek out an expert who knows them intimately, from inside?
