Guest guest
Hi!, this came from a different web site. But I thought the info was worth passing on. R. PS Just go to www.mercola.com and read about this in his yesterday's newsletter. [This is an excellent, free subscription.]A lead synopsis of article by Dr. Mercola: One Third of Probiotics, "Good Bacteria" Products Like Acidophilus, Found to be Worthless - Having studied 55 products labeled "probiotic," Belgian biologists conclude that in fact, not every product actually contains the bacteria associated with this claim. Guest guest
We went through various pill forms of probiotics (as well as prescription antifungals) to help our little guy and his gut issues. His preliminary stool cultures showed virtually NO good flora and lots of bad. Recently we started using HCL Mindlinx by Pharmax. These have the highest counts out there (or so I've been told) AND they actually help breakdown the exorphins that come from food we eat. Gluten and casein aren't the only foods that can create exorphins. So we started using it (and you give this one with food) and it helped his BM's a lot. We also use Culturelle - which is less expensive - and highly regarded by most DAN! docs. I kept our son dairy free, so no goat milk or homemade yoghurt for him. Between these probiotics, a calcium supplement, and LOTS of green leafy veggies we've got the calcium covered and his tummy on its way to healing. OH and OF COURSE the SCD diet is a big key in that, too... but we started SCD in October and noticed the biggest change in his BM's after one prescription med in November (flagyl for clostridia infection) and the Mindlinx this past February. Hope that helps! (PS You can google HCL Mindlinx by Pharmax and get more detailed info) Dawnmarie Mom to Evan (2.6 ASD) and Trey (13 months NT) GF/CF since September 05; SCD since October 05 > > Has anyone opted to just use pills for their child's probiotic? I am petrified to try the cow's and goat yogurt. The nut yogurt seems like a lot more work (which I don't mind), but I believe the probiotic content is not nearly as high! But the pills don't seem to have too much either. Any advice would be helpful. > > Thanks > Sue > 6 yr old son, no more APD?, SCD 8 weeks > > >
