Guest guest
Hi All, Just joined group this morn. Having surgery to correct vertical max. excess, narrow maxilla. Moving upper jaw up, expanding and advancing lower jaw with chin osteotomy. NERVOUS AS HECK. I have 9 mo old baby and am going through a divorce!! This procedure has been delayed 3 times however, and i am a teacher, so i need summer to heal. One other site with pics (any pictures here?) showed significant swelling 6 weeks later on one gal. Even with help with the baby, i am nervous about healing, pain, her being near my face, etc..... i know i just want to get beyond this. Pretty overwhelmed. Any advice? Oh, also nervous about vomiting after surgery as i did with a rhinoplasty. YUCK. THanks, K
Guest guest
You certainly have your hands full, but with good help, good care and a positive attitude, it can be done. Several folks have reported being " head-butted " post op by overenthusiastic toddlers. No damage done, far as I know, but scary as the dickens. I don't reckon you can do much communicating to one so young, but just try to be loving and reassuring with the wee one, i'd think, and back away as much as you can from any sort of flailing. (More for the sake of your not worrying than because I think it's likely your child would cause you any real damage.) Be sure to tell your surgeon and your anesthesiologist about your previous experience with anesthesia and vomiting. There are drugs that can help with both. We'll be thinking about you!
