Do you have Instant Messenger set up on your computer? Guest guest Posted August 9, 2002 Report Share Posted August 9, 2002 Ann, All of these different groups Yahoo, Excite, etc. have either " screen names " or I.D's. If you signed onto them years ago, you could usually get the same name (I have " bwerre " on Yahoo as an I.D., on AOL (or Netscape) as a " buddyname " and several other sites. Most of us prefer the AOL (also called Netscape) Chats as we have the least problems with that software and ISP support. BUT, you have to download the software, register and get a " buddy name " from them to use it. The software is free and directions on how to get it are on the Chat announcements we get on the list on Fridays and Saturdays. I suspect someone is loading your software for you and they would be the best to help you to get it, since you use your phone line as your connection to the internet. Grandkids are usually pretty " UP " on computers these days at least the teens. I think you are active in your church also, maybe another church member could help you out. The chats are a great way to spend an hour with other list members. Did you finally get in and vote? I see two more people voted today.
