Guest guest
yes, I had been on the Methimazole for a full two months when this blood work was done. Now he wants me on 10 mgs a day, and boy, am I ever having trouble staying awake! I am supposed to be training on a new computer system right now and I keep nodding off while the guy is showing the demo. I still have to watch exertion too, as my breathing starts sounding really bad. The lower these levels go for me, the worse I feel. Sigh. not to mention I'm about to freeze to death (i can remember the days when I was NEVER cold) lol Sandy Original Message: ----------------- From: -Pam L - pladd@... Yours
could be showing what was happening right before the dose reduction from 30
mg down to 20 mg. This is why TSH is interesting, but never to be relied on
for any dose changes.

The FT4 is the one I always used. This reflects current thyroid status.

This is yours ( to help others when they read my reply )

*FreeT4 1.03 0.61-1.76*

Where you on the 20mg for a FULL 4 weeks before this result ?

IF so, a rapid drop to 10mg may be too fast.
It is 'legal' to only drop to 15mg at first and see how you feel.

Be sure the dose is split in three. That will be 5mg in the AM, 5 mg
midafternoon, and 5 mg at night. About 8 hrs apart. No need to stay up past
your bedtime to take a pill though.
Lets not add Obsessive/ Compulsive to the symptom list. ;-)

Keep good notes on specific symptoms, as you are starting to narrow in on
your set point. For ME a FT4 of 1.03 is hypo, but tolerable in that I can
get through a work day, but I am not the happiest camper in the group. It
also makes me anxious, my heart acts up on exertion, and my thought process
is a tad distorted.
Small problems seem big.

-Pam L-

3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Guest guest
Sandy, Great ! The meds ARE working , and working really well. Too well I know you are thinking. :-) Better than the opposite. Did you drop to the 10 mg yet ? I can't imagine learning new computer stuff when hypo. Heck, I had trouble getting from point A to point B. Much less any thing new ! I found my appetite was gone when too hypo, so then I would skip eating and the resulting low blood sugar just made me 'look' like a real basket case. The suggestion is to be sure you have plenty of small nutritionally dense snack items close by at all times. I did pretty good by thinking along the lines of chefs salad. All that stuff. Except I snacked on it rather than making a full meal which put me right in daydream land. To tiered to work but too hypo to sleep. :-( Hang in there. We all go through the wonderful time of getting to the maintenance dose, but once there it should be relatively smooth sailing, with only a slight adjustment of course from time to time. Once on a maintenance dose, we do feel good, BTW. -Pam L -
Guest guest
I just started the 10 mgs this week as I didn't even go check the mail till I got up on Monday night. I found the test results then. I started the 10 mgs on Tuesday morning. I just know that I'm very tired and feel like I need a nap every afternoon! lol. I was so tired today I just kept nodding off everytime I got settled in my chair at work and tried to pay attention to the new program we are trying to use. Re: Pam Sandy, Great ! Guest guest
LOL...you're too funny Pam. Thanks for remembering my Birthday !! Actually I'm having the birds made into duck sausage. As far as I'm concerned it's the only way to eat a duck !! I was asking if you got the picture becuase I wasn't sure if your e- mail on the site was one that you read regularly and you were asking about the place I went to so I thought you might like to see the rolling prarrie land a couple of geese and a fat hunter. I was really worried that you might not be able to see me in all that camo gear....hee-hee. have a great day. Gordy > > > > > > Has anyone heard from Maggie lately.
