I remember reading many times that it is common for people to

experience numbess in their lower lip and chin following lower jaw

surgery. I do have that on the right side, but in addition my gums

are also numb. Have any of you experienced that? What comes back

first, feeling in the lip/chin or gums?

Hi Jay!

I had upper/lower/genio 4-months ago - and my kips came back first -

except for a small part of my lower lip is still numb. My chin is

slowly coming back also.

My gums were totally numb for awhile - but feeling is coming back -

in patches. My surgeon says it could be 6-months to a year before the

feeling comes back, but then there is a chance some will stay even

longer. But he didn't seem worried - and said it's an extreme case

where feeling doesn't come back at all.

Good Luck!

Corinne

Corrine and anyone else,

i am having same surgery. I need to know if you are able to eat and

speak well at this point with the numbness you still have. I am a

teacher, so i worry about that. Also, my 9 month old.....well....you

know all the talk you do with them! Is the numbness preventing you

from doing any of those jobs well? Thanks,
