Memory question?

Hi :

I have to say I never heard this saying before.>>>>

Used to have a steel trap for memory... What was that saying? Still

do - but now it's rusted shut? :-) I realize as the docs say I'm

likely having TIAs, that this may be partly what is causing this -

but it is a daily thing - not something that occurs in spurts.

It's not that I forget everything either. I don't. I do remember

some things. That's good.<<<<<<but I like it. :o)

I have to say Fred does forget things. Not all things. Things that he remember's is from years ago, but some of the short term memory seems to be going. Like him going fishing. Harvey told him in the morning about going, but Fred forgot about it , till late that night. His also been telling everyone that the doctor told him he only has 6 months to live. When I asked him about it, he tells me he didn't say that, but it's not the first person who has told me he has said it. So he seems to forget that he said it. So that goes with the short term memory I"m talking about.

Yep! , I like that saying

Take Care

Vera,

If I may butt in. If your doctors think you are having transient ischemia attacks, then taking an aspirin a day is a must.

TIAs are caused by blood vessels shutting of the flow of blood to a body part. This annoying enough, but, with one of the attacks, some plack may be dislodged, or the vessel does not relax again. Please take the aspirin, it may save your life.

I have them also and my cardiologist told me "never let a day go by without taking an aspirin". It may sound melodramatic, but the family would like to see you stay around for a long time.

Also, Fred may be having what is known as frontal lobe dementia or possibly another neurodegnerative disease like Alzheimer's.

God Bless,

Judy & Jim Stark

HI.

PAUL HERE. I THINK IT WAS ME YOU WERE ACTUALLY RESPONDING TO,

BUT... WHO KNOWS. MAYBE I MISSED SOMETHING.

WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME :0)

I HAVE TIAs. AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT THE NEURO-OPHTHO SAID. I'VE BEEN

PRESCRIBED TOPROL - AS A MIGRAINE PREVENTATIVE - AS THE DOC SUSPECTS

THAT MIGRAINES ARE ALSO EFFECTING CHANGE - NAMELY CONTRIBUTING TO THE

CONSTRICTIONS YOU REFER TO. HOWEVER, MY INTERNIST WANTED THIS

PARTICULAR DRUG, AS IT IS ALSO A BETA BLOCKER, AND CAN HAVE THE

EFFECT OF RAISING OR STABILING BP. AS I ALSO HAVE O.H., SHE WANTED

TO TRY SUCH A MED IF THE NEURO-OPHTHO PICKED UP ON MIGRAINE

PROBLEMS. HE (N.O.) WENT ONE STEP FARTHER THOUGH - AND SAID THAT HE

THINKS THE MIGRAINES ARE CAUSING TIAs AND THAT THE TIAs HAVE OCCURRED

IN THE NERVE CENTER OF MY BRAIN - WHICH IS SO SMALL THAT ANY DAMAGE

WOULDN'T SHOW UP ON AN MRI (NOW, BEFORE ANYONE MAKES A JOKE, LET ME

BEAT YOU TO THE PUNCH - NO - NOT SO SMALL ON JUST MY BRAIN - THE

NERVE CENTER IS THAT SMALL ON ANYONE'S BRAIN :0)

ANYWAY, I CANNOT TAKE ASPIRIN. I CAN'T TAKE MUCH OF ANYTHING. I WAS

SURPRISED TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THIS BETA BLOCKER - BUT... IT WORKS.

IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. FOR ONE - THERE HAVE BEEN NO NOTICABLE SIDE-

EFFECTS. WHICH IS GREAT FOR ME. FOR TWO - IT HAS RESULTED IN MORE

STABLE BP - I THINK - THOUGH, ON DAYS LIKE TODAY, WHEN IT WAS RUNNING

ONCE MORE IN THE 80S OVER 40S, I'M NOT SO SURE. STILL HAVEN'T

NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE IN FREQUENCY OR SEVERITY OF VISUAL

DISTURBANCES. SO... SEEMS TO HAVE HAD NO EFFECT ON MIGRAINES FOR

ME. THAT IS MY MAIN CONCERN - DON'T WANT ANY MIGRAINES CAUSING TIAs

AND LEADING TO FURTHER IRREPAIRABLE DAMAGE (WHICH IS WHAT THE NEURO

THINKS HAS HAPPENED). SO... I CONTINUE ON THE BETA BLOCKER - IN AN

ATTEMPT TO AT LEAST DO ALL I CAN TO REDUCE THE RISK.

REGARDING ALZ OR SIMILAR... I JUST COMMENTED ON THIS TO VERA. I

SURE HOPE I'M NOT GETTING THAT - I'D PREFER TO JUST THINK OF IT AS

MORE OF THE NEURO CRUD THAT IS GOING ON.

WELL... NECK JUST LOCKED UP.

GOTTA GET.

PAUL - OKIE - BUT NOT FROM MUSKOGEE :0)

BY THE WAY, IF I'VE RESPONDED TO THIS MESSAGE IN ERROR - I'M SURE

VERA WILL CORRECT ME :0)

HAVE A GREAT ONE!
