Guest guest
Meryl, You sound like me two days ago. I have my surgery tomorrow and i was FREAKING OUT, literally, for DAYS and now that it is the day before, i feel so much more ready and prepared than ever. I think this site has helped a LOT and i also know, being type A, that i needed to get a lot of stuff done, just to help calm my nerves. (Banking, house stuff, packing for my daughter, packing my bag for my stay at my mom's, getting hair cut, etc....) Having most of that done now, day before surgery, i feel much calmer. I have to tell you guys a funny story. i normally wake around 4:45am, try to get a little " me " time before baby wakes. I was waking naturally before the alarm this morn and i was thinking, " Oh my gosh, i can't believe i can lie on my side, this is great, it doesn;t even hurt. Wow, i can't believe my throat isn't sore, man, how awesome. Gee, I am breathing PERFECTLY, piece of cake, i am a lucky one. " For god's sake, i hadn't had the surgery yet and i thought i did! Ha, ha ha > So, Tuesday is the big day. i have been getting tests done and > seeing different doctors all week long. this has been the longest > week of my life. i can't believe that it is still wednesday. i > can't sleep, and all throughout the day the surgery and post op is > all i ever think about. its a continuous cycle of fears, anxiety, > nervousness...it never stops. i just wish it was tuesday already, > but on the other hand im really scared about having my mouth wired > for 6 weeks. its just all really hitting me right now. i can't > believe i wont be able to open my mouth for 6 weeks. it's all > starting to feel like a dream, i can't believe that this is all > really happening. i can't believe this is happening. i just want > it to be tuesday already. i can't stand this waiting any longer. > tomorrow is my last pre-op appt with my OS. i'll be talking to him > some more and also getting fitted for my splint. > > how is everyone doing with their post op experiences and > recoveries? well, i hope. > > i've been trying to savor all the solid foods i can right now. and > chewing lots of gum! > > well, take care everyone hope everyone is doing nicely. Guest guest
, You sound like me, my surgery is two weeks off and I'm already washing the sheets and blankets I'll use for my recliner, and getting the spare room ready for my first week. It is kind of soothing to get things ready and know that alll will be prepared when you get home from the hospital. I've even done a diagram of my kitchen cabinets for my mother since she will be staying here so she doesn't have to waste time looking for everything. I'm still pretty calm but I'm sure in 10 -12 days it will be a different story. Best of luck to you with your surgery and recovery!
