Guest guest
Sounds like a catchy tune! Well, it's day one, and I am on the other side now. Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. The surgery went well, only took 45 minutes to advance my lower 12mm. I woke briefly in recovery, and was moved up to my room for my 23 hour stay. I thought I'd be strong enough to go home by 5:00PM, but my throat hurt so much I couldn't swallow, even with the morphine on board. So, they doubled my dosage, and that helped a little, but then I stopped trying to drink all the cold drinks they were shoving in front of me and drank warm, and that helped tremendously. By 6:30 I had my first cold drink (7-up), and by 10:30 I had my first snack (strawberry yogurt). I was able to get off the morphine then, and take Vicodin (which is what I have now that I'm at home. Only problem with the vicodin is it doesn't let me sleep, so that's something I'll have to deal with tonight. I had another snack (vanilla pudding) with my 2:30 vicodin, and breakfast this morning was cream-o-wheat and milk. When I got home this afternoon I had chicken noodle soup, and stuffed shells for dinner. Gee, this isn't going to be so bad after all! I even managed to take a mile walk this afternoon, followed by an hour nap. I'm not wired, and may be banded after a week to a week and a half. I've got my first follow up appointment with the OS Friday AM. The only real problem right now is one of the medications I've gotten (and I know it's not the vicodin) is giving me the hiccups. Got to get that one fixed soon! Anyway, thanks to all of you for your support. I'll post pics on site 2 as soon as I find my USB cable.
