Guest guest
Hi All. I've had what I call a " numbskull " problem for quite some time, but the past couple of days, it seems to have gotten worse. Instead of just getting numb splotches all over my head - I got other sensations with them. I became weak. I perceived a need to sit down. And, I had problems thinking. Any idea what is going on here? Thanks.
Guest guest
, ALWAYS suspect infection. Call the doctor and see them. Guest guest
HI BILL. WHAT DOC? MY OLD PCP HAS QUIT, SO I DON'T HAVE EASY ACCESS TO A DOC. MY INTERNIST IS HOURS AWAY, AND HAS NOT RETURNED CALLS. WHAT INFECTION? ANY CLUE AS TO WHAT, OR JUST RECOMMEND BLOOD WORK. IF MY INTERNIST DOES RETURN CALL, OR EXPRESS DESIRE TO SEE ME - SHE'LL FOR SURE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU SUSPECT, BECAUSE SHE IS OFTEN WILLING TO HELP - BUT CLUELESS AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON. BODY MORE FRIED THIS WEEKEND. IN FACT, HAD NAP AND ALL TODAY - AND YET STILL ONLY OPERATING ON 25% OF BATTERY - AND THAT IS MY NEW LEVEL OF FUNCTIONING - NOT MY OLD (WHICH I WONDER IF I'LL EVER REGAIN - EVEN IF SUSPICIONS OF CHIARI ARE VERIFIED). THANKS, PAUL > , > > ALWAYS suspect infection. Guest guest
, Any kind of infection will wipe out someone with a brain disorder. So sudden loss of movement, fatigue, confusion, etc are signs of infection. If you have autonomic failure, then temperature is NOT the best indicator of infection which causes a normal doctor to sort of discount infection. Doctors familiar with autonomic failure are more likely to catch it. Infection can come in many forms - urinary tract, pneumonia, blood and yeast infections are all possible sources of the sudden onset of new symptoms. After Charlotte's first bout with infection, the doctors in the ER at our hospital (used to dealing with trauma rather than autonomic failure) always checked for different types of infection. I don't remember if you have autnomic failure, but if they even suspect SDS/MSA you may have it. Guest guest
AH BILL... SO YOU ARE HAVING MEMORY PROBLEMS TOO, HUH? :-) SORRY - HAD TO GET MY PICK IN THERE ON YA. :-) ANYWAY, YES, IT APPEARS I HAVE PAF - REMEMBER NOW? I'M THE ONE WHO CAN'T KEEP MUCH FOOD DOWN? YOU WERE GOING TO SEE ABOUT GETTING ME IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE WHO HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM AND GOT A PACEMAKER (ONLY RECALL THIS, BECAUSE I'VE READ THAT POST A COUPLE OF TIMES - AND BECAUSE VERA MENTIONED IT TOO). ANYWAY, MY BLOOD IS NEVER " NORMAL " - AT LEAST WASN'T BACK WHEN THEY WERE ORDERING TESTS EVERY OTHER WEEK. WHO KNOWS? I DO KNOW THAT MY WBCs WERE MESSED UP WHEN I HAD A SAMPLE DRAWN A WEEK OR TWO AGO - ACCORDING TO THAT PERSON - MY WBC APPEARED DEAD - THEY WERE NOT PHAGOCITIZING. THEY WERE JUST SETTING THERE. WHAT WAS REALLY INTERESTING - AND BEYOND HER SCOPE OF ABILITY TO ANSWER - WAS THAT AFTER A MERE 15 MINUTES OR SO - MY BLOOD CELLS ALL DIED OUT. THAT REALLY BAFFLED HER. SHE SAID IT DOESN'T USUALLY HAPPEN UNTIL AFTER A DAY OR SO. MY WIFE ASKED HER WHAT SHE WAS LOOKING FOR - AND SHE SAID - BLOOD! :-) SO... THINK I SHOULD GO IN FOR A TEST OR TWO? ALL THE BLOOD TESTS I HAD BEFORE DID NOTHING - THE DOCS NEVER KNEW HOW TO READ THEM. I EVEN SAW A COUPLE OF HEMOTOLOGISTS - AND THEY GAVE THE USUAL - " SOMETHING WRONG THERE - BUT NOT SURE WHAT " . WELL, I'LL SEE WHAT ELSE IS WRITTEN HERE. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT AND I'LL LOOK FOR ANOTHER POST FROM YOU TOMORROW TO PERHAPS GIVE ME SOME DIRECTION. MY OLD PCP IS THE NEW ER DOC IN A NEARBY TOWN, AND HE IS QUITE PERCEPTIVE AND HAS BEEN RECEPTIVE TO TREATMENT AND DIAGNOSIS - JUST THAT THIS IS ALL SO OUT OF HIS BALLPARK. SAME SEEMS TO BE TRUE OF MY INTERNIST. PAUL > > > , > > > > > > ALWAYS suspect infection.
