Guest guest
I have mentioned before that whilst is still reasonably well, We want to try and do all the things it is still possible to do, we condsidered a visit to Las Vegas, and are also considering New 0rleans as is a great Jazz Fan. I am sure there are certain times of the year to go when maybe there is a special jazz festival or parade on. Can anyone offer any help on this so we can look at booking. Thank you JILL
Guest guest
Gillian Bourke, I am Jim Stark, fellow MSA victim, Baton Rouge resident and jazz lover. First, don't try the trip before late September as the heat is oppressive before then. New Orleans is like Las Vegas, Party year round (Jazz year round). I have attached the homepage of one of new Orleans web sites, I think this will help. From this you can find ANYTHING, good and bad in New Orleans. Jazz is the language of New Orleans. Be sure to book reservations well in advance. If I can be of help, let me know. Guest guest
HI JILL. CAN'T OFFER YOU ANY INPUT ON WHEN TO GO TO NEW ORLEANS. HAVE BEEN THERE THOUGH - AND WHILE I DON'T LIKE CROWDS, SO WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANY OF THE BIG FESTIVAL TIMES - LIKE MARDI GRAS, IT IS A TERRIFIC PLACE - WITH SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE OLD ARCHITECTURE. TOOK A TOUR THROUGH A MAIN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT - THINK IT WAS ON A TROLLEY? WHERE DO YOU LIVE? THERE ARE OTHER GREAT JAZZ PLACES AROUND TOO - AND PERHAPS YOU COULD CATCH ANOTHER ON YOUR WAY THERE - IF YOU'RE DRIVING. WHY DID I WRITE? :-) OH YEAH... NOW I REMEMBER (MEMORY HAS REALLY BEEN FAILING - ALL KIDDING ASIDE.) DO GO - AND DO - WHILE YOU CAN. THAT IS MY MOTTO RIGHT NOW. I GOT AN EMAIL FROM A DEAR FRIEND IN SC. SHE ASKED IF I EVER STAYED PUT. TO HER, STRIKEN WITH LATTER STAGES OF LUPUS, CANCER... SEEMS I'M NEVER HOME - BUT, MY VIEW AT THIS POINT IS - TRAVEL AND SEE FAMILY (WHICH IS WHAT NEARLY ALL MY TRAVEL HAS BEEN) WHILE I STILL CAN. TRAVEL IS SLOW, AND WE HAVE TO PLAN AT LEAST TWICE AS LONG GETTING SOMEWHERE AND STAYING THERE TO GET THINGS DONE - BUT, AT LEAST I'VE STILL BEEEN ABLE TO DO. NOT SURE HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO DISNEYLAND IN OCTOBER THOUGH. WELL, YES I AM... I'LL BE A GOOD BOY - AND GET A WHEELCHAIR :-) WELL, TAKE CARE - AND ENJOY. SAVOR LIFE. I CERTAINLY AM. ALL I CAN. TRULY AMAZES ME AS I DRIVE (OR MORE ACCURATELY - " AM DRIVEN " ) AND SEE PARTS OF OKLAHOMA THAT I USED TO THINK WERE PLUM UGLY - AND NOW SEE BEAUTY ALL AROUND. MY WIFE DOES NOT SHARE THAT APPRECIATION YET - BUT MY GIRLS' EYES ARE A BIT MORE OPEN. BY THE WAY, JUST IN CASE JOHN DOESN'T SAY IT - OR SAY IT OFTEN ENOUGH - THANKS FOR THINKING OF HIM - AND SERVING HIM. YOUR EFFORTS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Guest guest
I forgort to mention a new site from the New Orleans Conention and Tourism Bureau. This site is the best - you can get categorized calendars to see upcoming events (currently listed through December 2002) - music, sports, etc. (click on events at top right of main page). The whole site is very good and easy to navigate. Shows all the events, jazz events and acts like Charmaine Neville, Delfeayo Marsalis Quartet, Pete Fountain, etc. Give it a look at: http://www.neworleanscvb.com/ Re: Re: Travel to New 0rleans > Hi, > > The next New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is scheduled for April 25 - > May 4.
