You really are good with the alphabet soup! What does all those

letters mean after your name? You must be very smart to be able to

keep up with all those letters!

HI AGAIN BELINDA.

YOU WERE BUSY THIS MORNING - WEREN'T YOU? :-)

LET'S SEE...

THOSE INITIALS...

LET'S START WITH THE M.S.

LET'S SEE HOW SMART YOU ARE...

FIRST THERE IS B.S.

WE CALL IT A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE - BUT YOU KNOW WHAT B.S. REALLY

STANDS FOR - RIGHT?

OK.

THEN TAKE THE M.S. - THAT STANDS FOR " MORE __ __ __ __ "

MY OLD BOSS USED TO SAY THAT PH.D. STOOD FOR " PILED HIGHER AND

DEEPER. " :-)

SEE - THERE ARE SOME IN MY FIELD WHO ENJOY EVOKING LAUGHTER.

MY FIELD? WELL... NOW WE'LL REALLY TEST EVERYONE - AND SEE IF THEY

CLAM UP :-)

MY FIELD IS PSYCHOLOGY.

MY MASTER'S IS IN COUNSELING/PRE-CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY.

I'VE BEEN WORKING IN MY FIELD FOR 15 YEARS. YOU'D THINK AFTER ALL

THIS " PRACTICING " I COULD GET ON WITH DOING SOME " REAL WORK " -

WOULDN'T YA?! :-)

ANYWAY, I SOMEHOW ENDED UP SPECIALIZING IN WORKING WITH THE MENTALLY

RETARDED. I ALSO WORK WITH CHILDREN - AND DO SOME " NORMAL " ADULT

WORK, BUT MOST OF THAT IS IN THE FORM OF ASSESSMENTS.

THUS, THE OTHER LETTERS AFTER MY NAME:

BCBA - STANDS FOR " BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST " . THAT ONE TOOK

A LOT OF STUDY - ON TOP OF THE MASTERS. IT IS AN EXCLUSIVE TITLE.

THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL (LITERALLY) IN THIS STATE WHO HAVE IT. IT'S

A NATIONAL CERTIFICATION - RECOGNIZED IN ALL 50 STATES. THAT IS WHY

I AM SUPPOSE TO GO TO FLORIDA NEXT MONTH - TO MAKE SURE I RETAIN THAT

CERTIFICATION - BY TAKING CEU COURSEWORK.

LBP - STANDS FOR " LICENSED BEHAVIORAL PRACTITIONER " . THIS IS THE NEW

LICENSE HERE IN THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA WHICH ENABLES MASTER'S LEVEL

PRACTITIONERS TO HAVE THEIR OWN PRACTICE. I WAS JUST GETTING

UNDERWAY WITH THIS LAST FALL - WHEN MY BODY BEGAN TO MORE RAPIDLY

FALL APART (IT HAD BEEN DECLINING FOR AT LEAST A YEAR BEFORE THAT -

AND THEY SUSPECT I HAD MY FIRST TIA 2 YEARS BEFORE THAT).

ANYWAY, LOTS OF LETTERS - WHICH DON'T MEAN A HILL OF BEANS TO MANY

PEOPLE. WHAT MATTERS MOST TO THOSE I SERVE OUT HERE - IS HOW I SERVE

THEM. AND... MUST DO PRETTY GOOD AT IT - EVEN IN THE SEVERELY

LIMITED CAPACITY THAT I PERFORM MY TASKS NOW - BECAUSE EVERYONE SEEMS

TO WANT ME TO REMAIN ON THEIR CLIENT'S CASELOADS - EXCEPT THAT ONE

CASE MANAGER WHO WANTS THOSE 3 REPORTS TOMORROW MORNING :-) NAW -

SHE'S JUST A STICKLER FOR DETAILS - AND SOME OF THOSE GOVERNMENT

TYPES HAVE TO HAVE THEIR PAPERWORK OR THEY GET A BIT EDGY.

CATCH YA LATER BELINDA - AND I'M NO SMARTER THAN ANYONE ELSE (IN

FACT, MY IQ TEST I TOOK IN GRADUATE SCHOOL PROVED THAT - I JUST WORK

HARDER THAN MOST AT DOING WHAT I DO - A LOT HARDER - AND THOSE WHO

ARE " HEALTHY " HAVE NO IDEA HOW HARD I'M WORKING NOW JUST TO SURVIVE :-

) DO THEY?

BESIDES, IF I REALLY WERE THAT MUCH SMARTER - SURELY I WOULD HAVE

PICKED A PROFESSION WHICH PAYS BETTER - LIKE PSYCHIATRY :-)

I SURE CAN'T COMPLAIN THOUGH - BECAUSE I'M STILL ABLE TO WORK - AND

GIVEN MY PITIFUL PERFORMANCE LEVELS NOW - THAT'S NOTHING SHORT OF A

MIRACLE - AND A TRUE BLESSING, AS I DON'T WANT TO QUIT WORKING - AND

DON'T EVER WANT TO RETIRE.

That is wonderful that you do a job that you enjoy doing. I know that

you worked hard for that alphabet and you should be proud of it,

every single letter! I was a college student before I couldn't do it

anymore. I was majoring in Computer Information Systems. I loved it.

If and when I get well I am going to go back and get my degree. I

think it was wonderful that I went back at 42 yrs old. I was even a

4.0 student but I worked awfully hard for that also. I have a hard

time with my mind anymore. I get these real bad pains in my head and

it feels like I just shut down totally. Sometimes I get real bad

headaches and then afterwards my health gets worse and doesn't get

better. I go and get tested for infections and get told I don't have

one. I don't know what is going on. Today the neurologist told me

they sent my brain MRI's to someone at Emory University in Atlanta

who looks at them all day and has the most experience in reading

them. They said I had, had brain surgery in the back of my head. I

have never had brain surgery. I even asked my parents and they said I

haven't. I asked the doctor what else it could be and he didn't know.

He said he hasn't got my MRI's back yet from Emory but they were

adamant that I had had brain surgery. He said he probably wouldn't

know what it is if he does get them back and looked at them.

Therefore, more tests. I failed the EMG and now he wants to do my

tongue. So I am looking at the next 2 weeks getting

neuropsychological tests done, then EMG, and then something else. I

can't remember now. I feel like a guinea pig but what else is there

to do.

Love and hugs,

Belinda
