Sharon:

I don't know of Dr. Lutrzykowski but the surgery he told you he does

is just what you want. It needs to be lateral (or Longtitudinal) to

preserve the Pyloric Valve and a DS for the same reason. $4,500

sounds a bit high as some surgeons charge nothing. But some charge

more so you have to weigh the cost against the benefit of going where

you want. I don't think the amount is unreasonable if you get

covered followup for the price.

If going to Spain is your choice you would be in the hands of a very

talented and caring surgeon, Dr. Baltazar. You might want to join

his list for a while to get a feel for what he offers. I don't know

the address but it's listed on the DS web site under physicians.

Regards.

Never heard of him. Be very careful before you agree to be

somebody's little " experiment " in performing the DS. It's a

very complex operation, and takes quite a bit of skill and

practice to do it well.

Look harder. I can't believe that's true.

Sounds like $4500 too much to me, given that you don't even

know if the doc has ever performed a DS before!

Okay, if you're willing to go that far, then you need not rush

through the research process, right? Take your time, and ask the

DOCTORS about any stuff you don't understand. Don't just take our

word for it -- not even that nice seasoned gentleman, Joe Frost --

we're not experts!

Hello RP Group,

I've been lurking and reading for almost 2 weeks and would like to

know if any other member of the group is from Indiana. I live in the

northwestern area and was diagnosed just 2 weeks ago with RP. I go to

a rheumatologist on Thursday and hope he has knowledge of this

disease. It was amazing to me that a dermatologist figured out what

was going on.

Thanks,

Midge
