Guest guest
Hey guys! (and gals :-) I got a hospital bed - given to me. Of course, it's been in our farm van for a few weeks now. Pulled it out 2 days ago so we could take some goats to a sale (which we never ended up doing due to the heat). Now where is it? Still outside. Can't figure out how to get it into our house. May have to take it around to the back porch, as we're going to have to turn it on it's side and drag it through the house - and I didn't exactly design this place for that to happen (yep - designed and built this place ourselves - much of which is setting incomplete because this - whatever it is - slammed me about a year ago - and I still haven't bounced back). Anyway, can't wait to try it out. I've been sleeping on a Wal-Mart canvas recliner (camping equipment type) for months now. Think it's finally breaking down a bit. Can you believe that!! And after the whole $15 I spent on it! :-) Best investment I made to date - has virtually eliminated my backaches - and I sleep with head elevated - like a good boy :-) Well, catch ya later. I still have some reports to write - if my eyes will cooperate (or even if they won't - gotta get them done - if I want to keep even the modest income coming in that I have - and yes - I am blessed to have that!) Guest guest
, Most hospital beds made in the last 15 years do come apart reasonably easy. Have some friend with a mechanical background look at the bed and see if they can figure where it comes apart for transport. If it is older and does not come apart, go to a place that rents moving equipment (like U-Haul) and rent a furniture dolly or two. Turn it on it's side and roll it into the house (need some friends for muscle). Furniture dollies are flat " carts " with four wheels and only a couple of inches off the floor. Note - you can buy one for as little as $20. Take care, Bill > > > Date: 2002/08/19 Mon PM 11:24:34 CDT > To: shydrager > Subject: HOSPITAL BED > > Hey guys! Guest guest
Bill... Nope... I AM mechanically inclined (building own house, restored old cars in the past... believe me - this puppy is not coming apart - it's rivited - not screwed - and solid - and HEAVY. Thanks for the idea on the dollies - but... doesn't that kinda take all the fun out of it. And where is the call for manliness then? Of course, Donnalee is getting to be about as much of a hoss as me now - she gets to do as much or more lifting as me (of course - sometimes it's ME she's lifting :-) Pablito (little in more ways than one - getting sooooo whimpy :-) > , > > Most hospital beds made in the last 15 years do come apart reasonably easy. Guest guest
, NOPE! Using dollies to save your back does not take the manliness out of moving, it saves your back. I know a lot of macho men who have bad backs even at 30 years old because they lifted something they shouldn't have lifted. I am still able to play softball at 65 years old because I used my brains rather than my brawn. Take care, Bill Werre > > > Date: 2002/08/21 Wed AM 02:54:19 CDT > To: shydrager > Subject: Re: HOSPITAL BED > > Bill... > > Nope... > > I AM mechanically inclined (building own house, restored old cars in > the past... believe me - this puppy is not coming apart - it's > rivited - not screwed - and solid - and HEAVY. > > Thanks for the idea on the dollies - but... doesn't that kinda take > all the fun out of it. > > And where is the call for manliness then?
