,

:o) And my old boss said that ten years after you got a degree, it should not

mean a thing. I worked extensively with PhD's and some were brilliant, others

had not done a significant piece of work since they got their degree 40 years

previously. Some could not write a sentence which anyone else could read and

understand, and some could explain how an X-ray was formed in layman's terms.

If I am looking for an engineering job, I am W. Werre, CMfgT (Certified

Manufacturing Technologist) which just means that I took a wide spectrum test on

engineering principles and passed it, then took 60 CEU every three years (or

wrote papers) until I turned 60 - after that they assume (and we KNOW what

assume means :o) that you know your stuff.

The letters are an indicator that you cared enough at one point to take a test (

or series of courses) at some point and maintain that level of competence. BUT

as you know, they are not infalible either.

Take care, Bill Werre

P.S. I do not think I could pass my certification test today :o)
